Does Teambuilder Location Effect Weather?

I want to make an online dynasty team with a team in Canada? How often will it snow? I'm making an open stadium so that it snows a lot.

  1. I don't know how TB affects things.
  2. Location most definitely makes a difference w/ default teams.
  3. I'd guess that the weather is hard coded by teams instead of locations. Therefore Michigan has a lot of rain games while Arizona St has very, very few. However, I'd bet that it wouldn't carry over if I had a TB team from Ann Arbor or a TB team from Phoenix.
  4. Even if it's hard coded by locations, I'd be surprised if they have oddball locations like Alaska or Canada accounted for.

Re: Does Teambuilder Location Effect Weather?

Whether or not TB team location effects weather is complex. TB files are not readily opened by external editors and thus, I cannot comment directly. However, weather probabilities in Dynasty mode depend on values in city and stadium properties--values not editable via the console nor, for Online Dynasty, via external means. Likewise, I am uncertain how the game handles the city created for a TB team; it may be devised according to state.

Toronto is listed as a city but there is less chance for snow than one might expect. If the game assigns weather-related values based upon cities which are hard-coded, I would recommend the following cities:

Missoula, Montana
Bozeman, Montana
Bismark, North Dakota
Pierre, South Dakota
Anchorage, Alaska
Beaverton, Oregon
Boston, Foxborough, Durham, Kingston, or Amherst, Mass.
Durham, New Hampshire
Orono, Maine

However, the game may also calculate this based upon stadium values. If that is the case, I would suggest not implementing your own but perhaps, choosing one of the following stadia:

Oregon
Missouri
Army - Navy
Big East Championship
Pitt
Penn State
Temple
Northwest Medium Highschool

Again, I have not been able to discern whether the game--for standard, offline dynasty--bases weather on city, stadium, or a combination of values from both fields. The above are the cities and stadia with the largest values in snow probability and winter precipitation rates. Please provide feedback if this helps, including city/state and stadium you selected.

I created a custom UMass team in Amherst, MA with the Northeast large stadium and the weather channel forecast was 75 degrees for a "play now" game (this was today). So it definitely won't affect anything in exhibition mode. Not sure about dynasty because I scrapped the idea.

Stupid question, but did you verify this by trying to play a play now game at the same time w/ the real UMass team?

Ok this is really interesting me now. I really want to play with a teambuilder team and play in an area with a lot of snow. I want to know how to have the greatest chance for having a team that will allow it to snow.

I think that TB teams weather is effected by the state the TB team is from.

I remember there being a decent amount of snow with the Montana Grizzlies and the teambuilder I put in Fairbanks, AK. But it still didn't feel like enough.
