The death penalty means your school can't compete in NCAA football due to recruiting violations and other stuff.

I have a question about the Death Penalty tho how long does it last 4 yrs?

One year, but the effects last a lot longer... take it like this one year no football, almost all of your players will transfer, leaving you with Incoming freshman recruits, walk ons and JUCO transfers to fill your team for the next 4 years or so.. then you get beat so bad that no good recruits will want to come to your school... so it really does do a lot to the program.

No, The Big 12 is the Big 8 and SWC combined, well basically the Big West was like the SWC, but was renamed to the SUn Belt which it currently is today.
