Re: Okay, What is going on here....
After I finished recruiting the class of 2006, I had some (more) free time. So I decided to check this out a little bit.
First, for the sake of it, I counted the number of signed and unsigned ("ineligible" according to EA) four- and five-star prospects. There were 20 five-star prospects and 172 four-star prospects that put pen to paper on signing day. There were 6 five-star recruits and and 52 unsigned four-stars. The one notable thing about them is that there were a lot of #2s on the list. #2 QB, #2 P, #2 ATH, #2 DE, #2 WR, #2 DT, and #2 T, to be precise. Maybe a fluke.
I then wrote down the names, rankings, and states of all six five-stars and the first ten four-stars on the list. Then, after going forward to position changes and letting the game add walk-ons, I checked out "View Signings" in the recruiting recap. I went through all 119 teams, and after much searching, found five of the sixteen unsigned players I'd written down.
#2 QB in the nation and Elite 11 participant Stuart Middleton ended up at BYU. BYU was #2 on his priority list behind OU. BYU also ended up with the #1 FB (wasn't on my list), Todd Neal, out of AL. His top three schools are listed as ---, ---, and ---. Hmm.
Moving on, Arizona got the #2 P, Lorenzo Vickers, out of LA. His list was FSU, UF, and Miami. Wow, the Wildcats also got the #9 FS (not on my list), and the #1 FB (?! Not on my list.), John Lopez, out of AL. His schools are ---, ---, and the ever-prominent ---. Oookay.
San Jose State ended up with the #7 G (CA; Oregon, SJSU, FS), Buffalo got the #8 DE (MS; USC, Texas, Ohio St.), and BGSU snagged the #3 P (MI; WMU, Ohio St., aTm).
I guess the other guys on my listed floated off into bolivion (tm Mike Tyson).
