Angry Bowls

Has anyone else gotten a really crappy bowl matchup? I was 11-0 on the season with NMSU went to the New Orleans Bowl as Sun Belt champs and played a 6-5 3rd in the sun belt UNT whats up with that?

Re: Bowls

Most bowls follow a certain formula. Like the 2nd place Big XII vs. 2nd place ACC. or something to that effect. So the formula is what does it.

If you don't get an at-large bid for one of the BCS Bowls then you go to the bowl that your school's conference is associated with. I'm thinking a 9-2 Michigan or Notre Dame squad is a better draw for a BCS bowl than an 11-0 NMSU team.

Re: Bowls

Yeah but it is suppost to be the Sunbelt number one against a conference USA team not the sunbelt #1 team versus the Sunbelt number 3 team that I beat by 21 earlier in the season. I dont care that I went to the New Orleans Bowl I just dont get how I got paired with a team from my own conference.

Re: Bowls

I made it through one season and, while my team wasn't involved I saw that Temple (who was ranked 6th in the nation) played in the nat'l champ game while the 2nd-5th ranked teams met in lesser bowls. Definitely was strange matchmaking at the top.

Re: Bowls

I've seen some strange things as well, such as #11 Virginia Tech playing in the National Championship game while #2 and #3 barely made it to Jan 1st bowls.

Now, this may be a big stretch, but does anybody think that the rotating schedules (and the errors they make, such as Michigan scheduling games AFTER the Ohio State game) may have anything to do with this? I dunno, just a hunch.
