NCAA 2003, off market memory card issue?

Can you help me?

I have 2 copies of NCAA 2003.
Off market memory card with large free space/data.

I have used the 2003 game in the past with no problem.
Now, for some reason, I get a white box on screen that says .

Checking free space on memory card (Ps2) .
But it never advances from there.
It's happening to my 2 copies of NCAA 2003.

I looked through saves on memory card. I don't see corrupt data square or anything.

NCAA 2004. Madden 2001 and other games work fine.

Help.....
