Defensive Line Strategies???

So, when you are on defense, do you use specific defensive line strategies on the regular? Pinch, crash, etc. What makes you use certain ones?

Re: Defensive Line Strategies???

If I’m bringing outside pressure I’ll pinch and contain QB sometimes.

If I’m coming up the middle I’ll pinch or spread and crash inward.

If I’m having trouble with read options, I’ll shift the d line to the side of the RB, crash to the opposite side (sometimes I’ll crash to the same side) and then audible the farthest rusher to “blitz” (meaning rushing straight).

Also with read options, I’ll change the option defense to contain QB. This stops the rusher from rushing inward and allows me to make the decision myself.

With 3-4 or 3-3-5, I’ll shift the line to one side and shift the LBs to the other. This puts an OLB on the line and the way their rush routes work it creates a stunt.

I don’t normally control the D line, but there’s a glitch with the D tackle that allows you to bull rush. It doesn’t normally get the sack (it can though), but it creates pressure that forces the QB to rush his throw sometimes.
