If a coach is in the game, EA would have to pay for the rights to have that coach in the game, like has always been the case in sports games.

I wonder if college football coaches have a union like college basketball has. College Hoops 2K7 had the college basketball coaches union in and they included about 75% of the real life coaches with their likeness in game. It was cool to see Roy William's, Tubby Smith and Lute Olson in game. It added a lot to Legacy mode as far as coach movement and realism.

I'm not sure if there is a union or association or not. Did 2k7 have that many? I thought it was just a small handful like William's, Donovan and a few others.

Re: Teams That Have Chosen To Opt Out Of EA Sports College Football

Tulane is another school to potentially opt out if athletes aren't compensated.

I think some teams will just jump on this bandwagon just because. A NIL will get done before 2023. It almost has to get done very soon since Florida's NIL bill goes in effect July 1st. You can't have some states get huge recruiting advantages. There almost has to be another Congress-NCAA event happening in March. There has been 6 proposed NIL bills by Congress.

The big thing is that Group licensing is included. That way it makes it easier to just have EA deal with one single entity to represent athletes. As long as Grouo Licensing is included, everything should be good. It'll just depend whether the approved NIL bill goes in effect immediately to offset Florida's NIL bill or start of 2022. But, I do feel we'll know by latest April

These schools are hopping on the PR bandwagon. They know a bill will pass and they'll never have to actually make any sacrifice. They get to get free PR points while acting like they care about their athletes and at the same time they continue to sell numbered jerseys without names on them.

ND makes this announcement but continues to sell a #12 jersey. Some people are going to buy into these announcements. Unless something major happens that completely derails the NIL bill process, these announcements are completely pointless, but a bit funny because it's clear as day what these schools are attempting to do from a PR standpoint.

2K7 had the vast majority of the real coaches. There were some notable exceptions like Coach K and a few others but by and large they had the real guys. I found this article that states that there were hundreds of real coaches, not sure the exact number, though. Crazy thing is literally all the real coaches were gone for 2K8, that's what made me think theres a union or something. They couldn't have licensed that many coaches individually.

I've played every single NCAA Football game as the Fighting Irish, so if they are not in the game it could be... problematic for me.

If the compensate the players I could see it opening a can of worms.
