Considering buying... (help)

NCAA 2004. I had it and really liked it. Then I traded it in to get ready for Madden. I was wondering what things does 2005 have over 2004 and vice versa. Because I'll get 2005 if it plays a better game and dynasty.

Dont get ncaa, just buy madden, i loved all the ncaa games until this year and i have to say that madden is far and away a better game, i dont even like playing ncaa05 any more, passing sucks.

~What NCAA 2005 has over NCAA 2004~
1. Deeper Dynasty
2. Recruitng Pipelines
3. Homefield Advantage
4. Updated Rosters
5. NCAA Violations (lose control of your program, put on probation)
6. Players progress during the season

~What NCAA 2004 has over NCAA 2005~
1. Better offense (when I say better, I mean its a whole lot easier to score)

~What people hate about NCAA 2005~
1. Dropped passes (easily fixed with sliders)
2. Tipped passes that have huge hangtime (fixed with sliders)
3. Lack of a CPU running game (fixed with sliders)
4. Passing difficulty (practice makes perfect, so does reading the defense)

I'm afraid this is a big time oversimplification. NCAA 2005 doesn't have the feel of the other NCAA's. I just sold mine and am going to buy 2004 again. This "easily fixed with sliders" stuff is not entirely accurate. He didn't even mention the fact that it's very difficult to get the CPU to complete 50% of it's passes. Also, XBOX slowdown is always there, especially with a long field to go.

It may not be entirely accurate, but to a certain extent it is.

But I do agree with the statement that it feels like a different "NCAA". Some people like it, some people dont. Thats the way it is. As for XBOX slowdown, I forgot all about that. I play on the PS2, so it completely slipped my mind.

I also feel I wasn't too clear when I said "fixed with sliders". Instead, I should have said, "toned down with sliders". Drops, Insane tipped passes can be toned down with the proper adjustments. I've played through 4 seasons in my dynasty, and just today saw one of those crazy tipped passes. That was the first time I've seen one of those in quite some time. The CPU passing game is still a mystery to me. Some games their QB is on, some games he isnt. And the same can be said for my QB.

The game does come with its Positives and Negatives. But IMO, the positives outnumber the negatives, and the negatives can be fixed to a certain degree.

I hope this is a more accurate description than my previous attempt.

cpu running is still terrible even with sliders maxed out in favor of the cpu. while they will run more effectively, they never stick with the running game when it works.

Re: Considering buying... (help)

If you're getting it for ps2, I say go for it, but if you're getting it for the box, I'd pass it up and stay with 04. The slowdown is there, I've tried it on 3 different XBOXs, a HDTV, a regular tv, and a plasma and its there on all of em, regardless of video settings, audio settings, or whatever else EA said was a fix for it. NCAA became a 50 dollar draft class generator for me.
