One negative for 16 however is the power and accuracy of the headers. It's great to see more accuracy required to get a cross to its target but once it is there I have seen some really crazy headers already, especially from the edge of the box against momentum that are still rocketed like an on balance kick. Hope they can tune that in a patch.
Great review. Reviewers seem to be slating FIFA because the changes arent back of the box material with taglines. However this is the first FIFA in history ( yes history) where you actually have to play real football to win. Where it might be slower but it is far more realistic and balanced than anything before it. Couple that with the now expected polish of the franchise and you have a clear winner. PES is really good this year too but that in no way takes away from the tactical game FIFA has put out this year

You don't have to play "real" football to win in FIFA.

Based on demo i still think best FIFA game is FIFA 14 (PS4 version). For me this is first year without FIFA since FIFA 07. That's shame, but good if at least someone is liking this year version.

The good and old times are back with PES, just like it was on PS2 time.

Re: FIFA 16 Review (PS4/XB1)

Great review. One of the best I've read.

For me, the only major weaknesses of FIFA now is the tactical depth and the defending. Tactical defending works well enough online but it sucks playing against the CPU on World Class or higher. Overall, my only real major disappointment with FIFA 16 is that it's not a great experience against the CPU for these two reasons.

One thing I'm shocked about is just how well they've balanced the online play. I've seen zero exploits so far. The gameplay is still too end to end for my tastes, but that says more about the nature of multiplayer than anything else.

The only other thing I'd say is man I wish they'd really put some effort into making CM a deeper experience.

And to all those who don't think the game deserves I higher grade than PES, I'd argue that while PES might make the better first impression, and I think PES's current foundation might have a higher ceiling than FIFA's (and that's a big maybe), PES 2016 has too many flaws that pop-up the more you play. Flaws with keeping, defensive AI, shooting, animations, passing, and all the non-gameplay stuff, keep PES 2016 from being really great. I'll be keeping my PES copy, hoping Konami make some good fixes (and actually come out with a roster update this year).

Re: FIFA 16 Review (PS4/XB1)

I really like 16 and I find it to be quite different to 15.
But I would like to say that FIFA is a video game and as such it's not reality(thankfully) Video games are not real life they are a pastime, a hobby, a retreat etc. Sports games bear little relation to the real world. Most people who play FIFA will never have even played football at amateur level in real life. So please don't confuse games like FIFA with reality. 99.99% have no idea of the reality of professional football. Also the reality of football differs massively. The manager of Crawley town has very little money to spend. His counterpart at Man City has unilimited resources. The person would not have a clue what to do if he didn't have unlimited money. Put just about every premier league manager in charge of a club without money to spend and they would be useless.
Money buys success in the real world. Skill is almost secondary. If you people out there really crave a more realistic FIFA experience then play as a manager without any money to bring in players. Crank up the level to legendary and then you will find out what it's like to have to grind out every point.
That my friends is the real challenge of this game. The silly skills moves are so much harder when you a re Joe bloggs at fleetwood or Chesterfield. Is it reality you want or success to you handed on a plate?
This game is brilliant at letting you be who you want to be. And that is a major achievement. But this game has little to do with reality. And thank goodness for that

Re: FIFA 16 Review (PS4/XB1)

I've played the trial, game-play is much better than last but not enough of an improvement to convince me to buy the game full price this year. I've tried getting into UT and season but I just cannot for some reason. The only mode in Fifa that I play is Manager Mode but the changes from last year to this year are pretty minimal, the preseason tournament is a gimmick and the player training enough imo.

I'll wait until the game goes on sale to buy.

Having played both, it's hard to rate FIFA higher than PES this year, or even last year.

What game did you play? It was certainly not FIFA 16 mate.
How come the FIFA community itself considers this as a PES 2014 like stain on the franchise and you praise it so much? Yeah, it's your opinion, but how can you enjoy a game where ALL teams play passing around the back?
