I dont really care about pace or size or whatever, but, how do you find strikers? I only seem to be able to find wingers.

Re: Finding strikers in youth academy?
I always search for "any position" but am not finding a ton either. I would say if you search Attacker and Strength you would get strikers as wingers won't be strong... or so my logic says but EA maybe says otherwise.. -
Re: Finding strikers in youth academy?
On a side thought... With the new training could one not train up a young winger and make him a striker? It will still say winger but scoring for me is the easiest stat to increase as the drills are pretty easy.
The drills I stink at are the high level dribbling ones... Thus I want players with dribbling skills as all else I can train.

Re: Finding strikers in youth academy?
I can't seem to get ST or CB in YA. I set a 5/5 scout on attacker, he turned up only cams, cms and wingers in 9 months. Then I set him to defensive minded, he only turned up cdms and LB/RBs. Not a single CB or ST from either in 9 months. I've also never gotten a ST from tech gifted, only CF. I haven't tried the strong trait for CB's, but they should be showing up in defensive minded.

Re: Finding strikers in youth academy?
I am having a hard time finding them as well. I have yet to find a CB but plenty of CDM that could play that position and I have only found 1 ST but hes a beast. Mario Riggio, Italian, 15 yo, 57 ovr, 81-94 potential. So the wait is worth it.
I think now that YA players have multiple positions once they are signed that the tendency is to find a lot of midfielders and wings and move them forward or back depending on skills.Comment

Re: Finding strikers in youth academy?
Ya it seems like 80% of all players found are CM's, but also have other roles listed. Its just so many with a main CM role.

Re: Finding strikers in youth academy?
The YA makes me crazy... I finally get a GK rated potential 76-94 and guess what,.. he is 5'3".. Dude seriously some guy shorter than me is not gonna work as my hopefully someday(am in League 1) BPL Keeper..or will he...
Also, I get quite a few CF's.. I am wondering as you develope them does their position change based on how they grow? I doubt it, just trying to understand why a bunch of young CF's are coming up when few teams use them but almost all teams have at least one starting Striker and I too have yet to find one. I know a CF can play ST but just not getting what this is all about.Comment

Re: Finding strikers in youth academy?
Strikers can be found by search for Physically Strong or Technically Gifted. The Physically Strong ones will have high jumping, heading, and finishing, but weak other skills. The Technically Gifted ones will have strong dribbling and other technical skills but can't jump or head the ball.
That being said you can use anyone as a striker. I often times will use an ACM, RW or LW which can be found under Attackers. They are often the best option if they have good height and speed.
Also, above someone said something about a 5'3" goalie. All 15 year olds will grow 7" when they turn 16. All 16 year olds will grow 7" when you promote them if you recruited them as 16 year olds.
Bottom line this is what I do:
Strikers: Physically Strong
RW/LW: Attackers
ACM: Attackers
CM: Technically Gifted
DMF: Defensive Minded or Physically Strong
RM/LM: Attackers or Wingers
LB/RB: Wingers or Physically Strong (although best option is use a RM or LM and train up tackling)
CB: Physically StrongLast edited by Seeker7; 11-24-2015, 06:40 PM.Comment

Re: Finding strikers in youth academy?
Physically strong for both Strikers and CBs. My best strikers right now are a CAM and a RW unfortunately. The strikers, actual positions, I have on my team have good physicals besides agility but awful technicals. They are getting better but it is a long process. A little frustrating when I'm building a team with ONLY YA players.PSN: OldStyle24Comment

Re: Finding strikers in youth academy?
The only issue with this is that the player's OVR is weighted toward the stats that matter for his position. Example: If you search for defensive minded and get a striker, their OVR will be weighted toward stats like standing tackle, marking, slide tackle, etc. If you train them to favor their attacking stats you can make a good striker, but their OVR may not accurately represent that.Comment
