AI marking to religiously

Anyone got an idea how to make AI defenders to not mark opposition players so blindly?

Many times a gap appears betweeen the center backs but fullbacks refuse to cover the gap bcs of marking task and sticking religiously to the opp wing player which should be having lowest priority in that situation?

Heck, even CBs get confused by what is more dangerous if an opp striker makes a diagonal run behind their back:

in that case they will abandon closing the huge gap in central defense which should always be 100% priority and start marking the off the ball striker behind their back!!


Lowering the MARKING SLIDER sounds like a possible solution, but in that case defensive players stay to far from their opponents, apply much less pressure and also, crosses defense is much much weaker!!


Anyone got an idea/solution?

You might say:

But Pavard (the France no2 fullback in spotlight here) might be just to late due to his averageish reactions stat (77), and that might be the case in the second phase of the action (when he becomes aware of the gap de bruyne is about to exploit)

But notice how in the first phase he is overcommiting to marking the wing france player in the first place, positioning himself to bad for the correction.
