Fifa Leagues VS. World Cup

I don't see this being brought up too often but i was wondering if it has ever been mentioned on why Fifa can not incorporate a World Cup into the game.

I would like to see this years version after finishing year one give the user the option to continue playing their regular league but also control a national team and enter world cup play. This would only be available every four years.


I'm sure part of the reason against this is so they can sell more copies next year, but won't we be missing out on the regular leagues on next years world cup version.

I think it has something to do with licensing.

It's so they can release a separate World Cup game along with FIFA to get more money, because nobody would buy the World Cup game if FIFA already had the World Cup in it.

So next year they will release a regular Fifa game and a World Cup game?

I imagine the World Cup game would release in spring 2010, or similar to the time when Euro 08 released this year. FIFA will continue to be released in October.
