Tips on headers?

I missed an open goal to tie a game in the final second. It went over the bar .

I have yet to score off a header, and this is something I have done well with past games. What is the proper timing, button press duration and button to use? I have been holding B on 360, but maybe there is a better way?

Re: Tips on headers?

People have a tendency to hold up on the thumbstick while they are taking the cross. However, heading the ball down creates more goal scoring opportunities. Flick the thumbstick down as soon as you start hitting B, to head the ball down.

Ok cool, and you literally mean down on the stick for either side? I have been aiming right or left depending on which side of the field I am on.

Sorry, try aiming to a corner and down. Flick the stick in a diagonal down right or left depending on which corner you want to shoot to.

Thanks man..other question is do you hit the shoot or cross button? I know both work, and also do you have to preload them or what is the proper timing?

I used to get the guys in old FIFA and WE11 to do flying headers and real accurate ones with power..so far...not so much.

Re: Tips on headers?

Its all about positioning.

Don't hold the shoot bar more than 1/4 full.

Get to the front and watch the ball fly into the corner of the goal.

Heading the ball towards the direction the ball was crossed from is really helpful.

That is, heading against the direction of the cross. Generates more pace of the head.
