Re: FIFA 2010 Wish List

I love the Fifa series, but it needs some upgrades.

1) Gameplay-
Pace of play is off
Speed is too important in fifa
Defensive is horrible (more on this)
Fouls need adjustment, need more free kicks
More player jostling, especially off the ball
Goalie movement, looks like a robot
Free kicks need improvement and ball bending

2) Manager Mode-
Needs an overhaul
Teams need better logic
Player development needs alterations
Sim stats need changes
Player awards don't make sense

3) Online
Needs NCAA 10's post game point counter

4) Defense
Holding one button steals the ball for you. So worthless and annoying. A three year old can play defense on fifa.

5) Offense
Highly improved in the last few years
Still has a train track feel to it. Once you pick a direction it is set for 3-4 yards.
Offensive attacks needs improvements need changes

6) Customization
Kit numbers...what happened?
How bout having a third/fourth Alt jersey that we can pick the colors for.
Formations
Corner kick, Free kick custom postioning

There is more but Chelsea and Barca just came on

Good post. I'm going to touch on some things you brought up.

2) Manager mode is terrible. The CPU AI on and off the pitch are horrible.
Playing in the EPL you will routinely see teams sell their best players to teams that in real life would have no chance at getting them. In mine I have seen Cesc go to the Dutch League, Peter Cech go to lower La Liga team, etc... What's even worse is that you know these teams will not play them unless they have no other players at that position. If these teams were to give them up in real life they would have a lot of cash to spend on other players, not in FIFA. They sit on the cash and because the CPU doesn't start the best 11 they let transferred players rot on the bench.

Other bugs/annoyances:
  • Cup Games/League Matches on the same day (was in '08)
  • Scouting system is unrealistic (There is no way I should be able to find an 80+ overall 21yrd old who is not tied to any club. Scouts should find me young players with promise on existing teams)
  • Lack of cumulative stats (Why can't I see my player's stats from last yr or even my end of the year stats)
  • Lack of visibility into other leagues
  • Human players never make the Best XI
  • Too easy to accumulate $ (In Yr3 w. Forest I have over $47 mil in the bank)
  • Too easy to progress your players
  • Lack of serious injuries (In yr 3 I have had no one on my team miss more than 2-3 matches in a season and my players get fouled a lot)
  • No rivalries whatsoever
  • Loaning players is worthless (Yes, you save $ but your players don't gain experience points)
  • No practice mode
  • Night Games for the CL
  • What happened to assiging "Traits" (Determination, counter attacker, etc...)
I and some others are forced to limit ourselves in MM to make it realistic. Whether it be choosing the worst sponsor (so you don't over accumulate cash) or limiting growth, it's too easy to become a powerful club in 2-3 yrs.

6) Customization
  • You can edit players in NCAA so why can't you in FIFA.
  • How about a kit editor as well so we can create 3rd/4th kits or update them as the years progress.
Overall I would like to get rid of the difficulty settings and have teams play up to their ratings. The game shouldn't dumb down Barcelona if I'm using a club from the lower ranks and vice versa. Players should play according to their ratings and not a skill level. Play Barcelona on legendary and then play Bury (Football League 2) on legendary. Bury will pass just like Barca with the only difference being speed. The elite teams have more pace but the difference isn't as wide as FIFA leads you to believe.

^^
"Loaning players is worthless (Yes, you save $ but your players don't gain experience points) "

agree this is a pain, and coupled with the fact that if you do loan them out they get ZERO experience points. best just to pay for them to sit on the bench and gain points.

best way for progression, i have found is to do it mannually and have restrictions. players have to play to get better, so its not like you can get a 70 to a 90 without playing him. also, need to keep caps on skills. i tend to add points evenly across a category. for instance, will wait until i have enough points to add to SKILL. this way, if the "profile" is a guy that is relatively better at dribbling than long passes, then that will remain.

just the way i do it.

Re: FIFA 2010 Wish List

I like playing the game but its annoying when you take the
time to put all or a majority of the players on their new teams
and the game releases all players rated 80-90 before the first
game in Manager Mode. Its also annoying that players scouted
and transactions somehow make it to you out of manager mode
roster and disable the ability to play international games until all rosters are reset.

There should be 'unlimited editing' and 'full control'
over transfers/rosters in Manager Mode(or at least an option,
with a big chart allowing you to 'ok' good transfers/loans).
A team with three keepers doesn't buy Buffon and just because
a team has more than three at a defensive or midfield position
shouldn't mean that one of them gets traded or released.

(Harry Kewell always gets released since Galtastaway has
8 LM's) Manchester City & Real Madrid may be two of the
most annoying teams if you're not using them. I bet that
two or three get released every season.

Christiano Ronaldo should score more than 3 goals a season.
Ji-Sung Park should play or start more than 5 games a season.
Real Madrid should never release Kaka. I bet they fu**in will.
These are just examples of why Manager Mode gets annoying.

I think Fifa Manager utilizes practice squads. Fifa 2010 should too.
