I agree with your disagreement. But there has to be a better balance between the AI and how it plays and the use of a super cancel. I haven't played much BAP this year yet, but last year it really made me mad that the ability of your teammates to play more intelligently was there, but unused in the normal single player game.

While I'm glad it is there, it seems to me like a cop out mechanic just to cover up their inability to rid the game of this spastic control. Don't like that... I'd prefer they address it up front.

Pared, I feel what you are saying. It seems like you can't even play a neutral style of soccer. The AI players you don't control are always runningin a offensive manner and never stand still, or at least slowly jog. And I'm still trying to figure out how to trap the ball away from goal and play in a lateral manner, not always having to be facing the CPU opponents who are happy to attack the ball. I know the LB will shield the ball, but it's too hit and miss. They just need to have it where the players play their postions more and the ball less. I hope that makes sense. It just seems that Fifa is, at it's core, still an offensive game. The D is more aggressive, but just so we can't attack without consequence. It's pretty "sim" now, but still about the long ball and push,push,push the ball.

Brian, for trapping the ball, doesn't the R Trigger (R2 for PS3) work for trapping the ball/shielding the ball with your back to the CPU defense?

Yes and Holding the LB will turn your back to the close Defender. I'm more referring to how when you always receive any pass or if you run up to the ball it automatically turns you up field toward goal.A lot of times that has you facing a defender and then you have to hurry up and hold the LB.But you have to have a man coming in close to you.Soccer is played in all directions, not always attacking. I like having a good backheel pass, but sometimes you work the ball sideways and even backwards to build attack.

That's more what my beef is. And like Pared said, you are always pulled toward the ball. I can see how that could be a problem you can't easily get around, as you have 10 guys running around, 9 under CPU control, so you want them to begin moving toward a realistic position before you take control. But you should have total autonomy once you take the man over from the CPU. Other than this issue, I'm totally floored by the gameplay and animations. MM needs some work, but I knew it was what it was this year.
