Questions for MM (Not Complaints!)

I just have some "administrative" questions before I begin a MM ...

(1) Does "board difficulty" effect anything more than your money?
- - - I know that this changes the $$$ you have for wages and transfers
- - - But does this also change the board expectations?
- - - Does this make it easier/harder to get fired?
- - - What is a "reasonable" level for board difficulty?

(2) Any advice for making the choice of sponsor?
- - - Is it better for "big bonus + small win payout"?
- - - Is it better for "middle + middle"?
- - - Are they any bonuses for "loyalty" or winning trophies?
- - - There was more info about the choices with FIFA09

(3) Where does the money from the sponsor go?
- - - Can I use this to pay player wages?
- - - Is this only for transfers / scouting / staff upgrades?
- - - I only get paid if I win?

(4) Does my wage budget increase during my career?
- - - If I get promoted - will I have more $$$ to compete?
- - - What if I want to expand the roster for Europe cups?
- - - Does the board "recognize" that I am improving the team?
- - - Is this tied to my manager stars?

(5) Is it a "cheat" to have my Virtual Pro on my MM team?
- - - I see that he has a wage of zero dollars
- - - And he is a good player (who will get better)

(6) I have read about putting players on the roster to transfer.
- - - Use the team edit to "stack" your MM team at the start
- - - This is like "free money" to start the MM career
- - - This seems like even more of a cheat

(7) What happens if my wages are bigger than my wage budget?
- - - Does the game just prevent me from doing this?
- - - Can I pay wages from the other budget?
- - - Does this just make the board angry?

(8) Where does the ticket sale money go?
- - - Can I use this to pay player wages?
- - - Do I really need to choose low/medium/high?
- - - I had just left it at high in previous FIFA's
- - - Stadium upgrade = more ticket $$$ ... yes?

(9) Is it better to start with a "non-famous" team?
- - - The manager prestige will begin at 1/2 star
- - - I should choose a "reasonable" team to manage
- - - No 1/2 star manager is really going to be at Chelsea
- - - Will this help with the "getting fired" issue?
- - - Is the Championship a good start?
- - - Is League One better?

(10) Will edits to my Virtual Pro make it into MM?
- - - What if my VP improves over time ...
- - - Will he change "inside" of MM?
- - - Or do I need to restart a new MM?

=====

OK thanks - I hope lots of people can benefit from this thread.

Re: Questions for MM (Not Complaints!)

wow...quite the list! I am a rookie to MM, but I do have a few answers I think.

sponsors - to start, take the biggest up front payout. chances are the guaranteed extra $ to give to slightly better players (acquiring transfers) and staff upgrades will help out greatly in season 1 (and for me season 2 as well)...as opposed to hoping you win and can afford stuff that way. I also did not notice any loyalty bonus or anything of that nature (even for winning a cup), which is odd because the PSP version of the game has this.

sponsor money - it goes into your overall budget for buying transfers, scouting, and staff upgrades. I am not entirely sure how your weekly wages are determined...aside from the "up front" money, you only get paid per victory. you also get ticket income from home games

budget increase - I am playing with Leeds, and I have not really noticed a dramatic increase in budget as I advance. I want to say it has gone up slightly, but not much (someone else can chime in). I still need to bargain shop in season 3 after just being promoted into the premiership.

virtual pro - yes, you have the option right away to add him to you team. however, I have not made any edits to him outside MM, so I don't know if they carry over (they didn't in 09 while you were mid-season with him)

roster cheats - pretty sure they are available (creating multiple guys or doing up front edits before starting MM), deciding to use them is up to you. I wanted to go as "authentic" as possible, so I chose not to except for my one VP

wages - I was "frozen" by the board when I became what they deemed "too active", so I am not sure if it is the game's way of self regulating or not. I have not fallen into debt, and I noticed that you cannot make staff upgrades without the cash on hand

tickets - already addressed some, but I left at medium except for late round cup matches (that I had control over)...seems ok so far

choosing a team - totally up to you. go with a top team and get a huge budget, but you better win and win right away. I found taking league 1 Leeds and completely turning the side around to be great fun. the manager progression is directly related to what happens on the pitch...and yes, your expectations from the board start lower so the build up there is pretty natural as well.

hope that helps and others can build on this too. cheers!

Re: Questions for MM (Not Complaints!)

Good reply, I'll try to add some more (also relatively new):

"Cheating" - I don't consider it cheating to use one Virtual Pro on your team, even if he's pretty good. The game is designed to develop your Pro across ALL game modes, and a lot of people spend the majority of their time in MM, so it makes sense. I don't think his position will change if you alter that outside of MM, but I do think his attributes will. My guy went from a 69 to 70, and I'm pretty sure that was reflected in MM. Plus, this is a single player mode, so you determine how you want to play anyway. A lot of people play on Semi-Pro when they should be at a higher level, but if you enjoy playing a video game where you practically never lose, why shouldn't you be able to do that? Not for me, but I won't stop anyone else.

My Virtual Pro isn't really good enough to start on my team, but it is nice to have him for some depth, since it can be pretty hard to sign anyone with the crappier teams.

Team choice - The game is basically designed to make it harder to stay employed at the better teams anyway. I started with Tottenham, and they fired me within 15 games. Now I'm with Wolverhampton, and my goals are basically "Don't get relegated". So, even though Wolverhampton is a much less-skilled team, I find that I'm going to have bad losses from now and then, regardless of the skill of my team. So it's not cheating to take on one of the elite clubs, because it could be over for you in a hurry if you slip up.

Another one ...

(11) How does my money (transfer/wages) change from season to season?
- - - Not the debt glitch issue
- - - Assume that I stay with the same team
- - - Do I get more to spend if I get promoted?
