So far demos have been dropping 3 weeks prior this year, so that would be September 6th

One of the other great things about FIFA is how quickly games go by. It's tough to get through a full game of NCAA or Madden because they take an hour to play usually. With FIFA you can just pop it in, and get a game done in less than 20 minutes.

I agree with what others have said, that FIFA is outstanding and well worth a purchase, even if it's just one of the older titles. I'm still playing FIFA 10, although I may pick up the new one this year.

Noob soccer fan here also,

I understand Fifa doesn't have UEFA CL license, that said, can you setup a custom tournament like UEFA CL in FIFA 12?

I'm sure that you can, you could in FIFA 11. But the presentation in PES is jawdropping.

Re: Never bought a soccer game before.

To answer the OP's question I'm in the same boat as you. My advice is to tryout various demos. I tried FIFA 11 which really got me into soccer video games recently. Luckily my friend was able to lend me the full game, and he said I could keep it since he's waiting for 12 to come out anyway. Then I tried out the PES 11 demo and liked that game as well. PES 12's demo came out earlier this week and although the game is really hard, it has taught me how to play defense better and to attack better. You can't play PES 12 the way you do FIFA.

So with both PES 12 and FIFA 12 coming out next month I have to decide which game to get (I can't get both because, well, I'm pretty poor at the moment). I started making my friends soccer fans recently by playing more FIFA with them and we went to an LA Galaxy game earlier this week. Needless to say they like FIFA more than PES since FIFA is more of a pick-up-and-play, run-n-gun style of soccer where as PES is more realistic in that you can't just charge the ball carrier all the time like you can do with FIFA. Videos I've seen of FIFA 12 make it look pretty much the same as FIFA 11 to me, so unless FIFA 12's demo blows me away I'm going with PES 12 while keeping my friend's FIFA 11. My friends will probably buy FIFA 12 anyway, but I can sleep soundly knowing I can beat them easily thanks to my training against the CPU in PES.

You know what, that's what I have noticed after watching a couple FIFA 11 videos. It seem like human controlled team always on a break away. While on PES 11 / PES 12 Demo, I can't even sprint all the way for a goal. I hope FIFA vets can chime on this.

So far, my record in PES 2012 demo is 1-7-2. It is very challenging and fun!

I have to try FIFA 12 demo, then decide.

To DEFTFUNDAMENTALZ - I agree, UEFA CL presentation had me drooling... At this point, I'm really torn between the two.

I am telling you got the idea right, FIFA is route 1 soccer, lacking real build up and the key passes that you see players perform lack the back pass to a defender or goalie to keep possession. FIFA has a casual appeal to it, and while it does have fantastic animations I sometimes feel it doesn't do the best job in using these animations making many things in FIFA seem over excessive at times. Is FIFA a bad game no I don't think so as it is very fun, but does it do the best in representing real football tactics, nope.

If you do like PES give it a try as you will not be disappointed at all with it this year. It has many fun modes for it like the Master League and Be a Legend mode which lets you control your own character on the pitch, it is a very addicting mode and the Europa League and Championship are included into it as well as the all the International tournaments as well.
