Best way to round the keeper?

Been playing FIFA for many years, and this is one of those things that I still have not quite figured out how to do. I know there are a few different tactics to take (using a skill move, using the joystick), but I've now had a few 1-1 breakaways in 13' and have tried to use the joystick and the ball seems to go completely off-course.

Anyone have any good suggestions for getting round the keeper on a 1 v 1?

I use fake shot which makes the gk go to ground then weave around him. Doesn't always work but it happens now and again.
