Any help with Global Transfer Network?

I think I am ready to get started with my career mode in FIFA14 ... and I would like to get some information about the new Global Transfer Network before I get in too deep.

I know that there is already a thread on here about GTN - but it does not really discuss the particulars of this new feature, or have all that much information about what to look for in building your network / hiring scouts / signing new players / etc.

I am hoping to re-boot a discussion of GTN - for my benefit, and for the benefit of others. Also - if there are any other good online resources to look over with regard to GTN - I would definitely be interested!

    Thanks!

Well there's alot to go over.

Starters the country of the scout has no impact at all. As far as scouting ability, the more expierence a scout has the more players he can scout and more judgement means faster scouting in terms of days. The more players you are scouting the longer it will take to get reports as well.

You send the scouts to countries with leagues in the game. You also give them instructions (1st team quality GK for example), the more instructions you set for a position the more likely it is that the player will be good. At the same time the more instructions also means less players and in some cases, no players that fit what your looking for. I usually have at least 2 and no more than 4.

You may set up to 6 instructions and they apply to all the scouts at the same time. Scouts come back with more players no more than once a week but sometimes you can go months without hearing from your scouting bringing new players.

Any specific questions? I've spent A LOT of time with the GTN and as time consuming and tedius as it is I feel like it's still better than the old system.

The youth scouting / youth academy stuff is pretty much the same as it was in FIFA13 - right? It is only the transfer market for actual established players that has the significant change due to the GTN? And now I have to keep track of two different sets of scouts ... youth scouts looking for brand-new players, and transfer scouts looking for already-existing players (on other clubs).

Bingo. Let's hope for some tweaks in FIFA 15 on that front.

OK - here is a finite question ...

What is the value of specifying a contract length in your scout instructions?

How does this factor into the transfer process? What should I be looking for? Do I just pick up the remaining contract? Or do I negotiate a new contract with the target player anyway before he moves to my club? Etc.

Re: Any help with Global Transfer Network?

I have a big Problem with short term loans that I hope someone can help me with (it seems like a big though):

I'm playing with Accrington now in the 3rd season in league 1 after promotion, and loaned two players under short term loan agreements as a short-term use of wages while I wait for my youth staff to find quality youths to invest in. However, when both loans expired in Nov/dec after 3months I did not get the wages back to reinvest in January and in youth players. As such I've seemingly lost £6,000 in weekly wages, which is huge when you consider most my players are earning £750/w and my squad size is just 20 (I think that's the minimum allowed?).

I'm playing with a strict boardroom (so get 65% value of players I sell to reinvest), but would still expect to receive wages back when loans expire...

I'm hugely skeptical of making anymore loan signings from now on which is a massive shame due to the benefits it brings, so any advice or clarification would be greatly appreciated.

It's most important for scouting players on their last year of their contract. Which leads to you being able to approach the player in January to sign a new contract in advance for the upcoming season when he becomes a free agent. It also is a way to purchase players for lower transfer fees from other clubs immediately. For a player in his last year, in January you can offer their club less than their value and still be able to complete that purchase. You don't have to wait until next summer for the player to join the club based on your needs/planning.

                Another finite question -

Do I need to be concerned with transfer scouting all the time now (rather than just during the open transfer windows)?

Should I have my GTN scouts out working in all of the months, gathering data and recommendations, even during non-transfer times? And then, when the window opens, I can make actual offers to teams/players that I have already been interested in for some time? Do I need to be constantly managing my GTN scouts?

                  OK - another one ...

Is there a strategy with choosing how many / which attributes for the search?

What do some of the attributes map to? Can I search for both "First Team Quality" and "Promising" ... or are those in competition with each other? Are certain traits more appropriate for certain positions (i.e. I need someone for LM/RM ... things like "dribbler", "pacey", "playmaker" would be good)?

Is there a "too many" (I know I can go as high as six)?

                    Still going ...

Do each of my GTN scouts look for each pack of instructions?

I have six slots for instructions (I have currently given instructions for three of those slots ... GK / Winger / Fullback). Both of my scouts are looking for the same stuff? This means I can have two (or more) different sets of instructions even if each set is initially searching for a CB?

Re: Any help with Global Transfer Network?

yes if you hire 6 scouts and give 6 instructions. each will search within those parameters for their respective country you assign them to.

the "pacey", "dribbler", etc is just to help find a person with those stats. you essentially use the GTN to help find specific players you want. so say you need a good RW. depending on your style of play, you might want a fast, good dribbling RW. so you would select pacey and dribbling. however, if you play a slow build up, you might want good dribbling, passing, ball control, etc. so you have to have an idea of the type of player you want, and your scouts will go out and find players who match what you're looking for. some might be big names, others you may never have heard of. it just depends.

about "first team quality"... from my understanding, when you search for that, you are searching for a player with an approximate overall based on the average of your current starting XI's overall, hence "first team quality". if you are Derby County, first team quality is not Manchester City first team quality. your first team quality might be like 69 OVR. and "first team quality" and "promising" aren't necessarily related. as i said, if you are a lower level team, you might get say, Raheem Sterling. good potential, yet first team quality for a lower team.

                      hope that helps.

Re: Any help with Global Transfer Network?

"First team quality" is VERY hit or miss. I've done many CMs and each one I use the GTN, in one CM(league 2 to BPL career) I was in the BPL and the GTN scouts(high rated scouts) were bringing me guys 15 OVR points lower than my starters.

In another CM(this time starting in Bundesliga 2), I had great results with the GTN finding good players even deep into the Career.

On a side note the first CM was York City and lasted 9 seasons on PS3 and the second has gone 6 seasons to this point on PS4 with FC Koln. I've had at least 5 other simming CMs that have gone over 3 years, some of those just to test the GTN.

I'll say what I've said from day 1, LOVE the idea of the GTN but things need to be ironed out next year. If your on PS3/360, the GTN is much much better on NG.

What is the value of having "higher-star" GTN scouts?

With the youth academy, a higher-star (more expensive) scout is more likely to "find" higher quality youth players. But, with the GTN, the scout is only recommending already existing players - why should I care how much experience / judgement my GTN scout has? Is it worth it to spend money for more expensive GTN scouts? I am not seeing the value for this ...

"Judgement" is associated with finding the best players and "Experience" is associated with finding the right players ... but, with the scout instructions, who cares about experience in finding the right players - the scout will find players based on the instructions. Right?

The more experience a scout has the more new players he will bring you and more players he can "scout" at one time. I've seen 5 star experience guys scout 10 guys at once comepared to 2 or 3 for a 1 star.

Judgement on the other hand is how exact the report will be and how fast you get it. 5/5* scout can get good reports on 3 players in 5 days or so. A 1/1* scout would take a month to scout those same 3 players and it would be a vague report.
