FIFA noob--Online leagues?

I'm new to FIFA (plan to pick up '14 used and preorder '15). I'm a long time Madden player who has decided not to line the pockets of that product this year (FIFA is same pants, different pocket--I get that) and I have always spent the vast majority of my Madden time in online leagues. Does FIFA not support this? I briefly played FIFA 12 (I think) and played online lobby games but if I'm going to really get into this I'll need a league to play in. I found "Do Gaming" online and they look like they run leagues outside of the game itself.

Recommendations for online league play?

Is this just something not done in FIFA? I know it's a major game mode for most all other sports.

Not done, Fifa ultimate team where you buy your way to the top Like Barca, and Real Madrid, is the closest thing.
