£65 Million Who To Buy?

Hey guys,

So I need some help. I’m playing manager mode with Nottingham Forest. I’m in my third season (about to start it). I’m playing world class and I have my financial strictness set to strict.

I’m a Man Utd fan and when Louis Van Gaal spoke about his “Three Year Plan” I thought it would be cool to imitate that. So I have a four year plan.

Year One - Gain promotion to the Premier League - Achieved
Year Two - Finish mid table, qualify for Europe - Achieved.
Year Three - Win the Premier League.
Year Four - Win in Europe.

And the whole time I want to build for the future.

So, year three. I wasn’t given much money so I had to cash in on the financial takeover. Which I did the previous season. I really need the money to be able to compete with the top clubs and return Forest to their former glories of the Clough years.

I’ve been given £65 million. And what I need are experienced players, players that can help me win now, whilst I build for the future.

I also want to buy a 5/5 scout. So that’s about £7.5 million.

So, really I have £58 million. And I want the best bang for my buck.

Last season I bought Scuffet, Lascelles, Sarr, Chalobah, Jordan Ibe, Patrick Roberts, Vietto. I know in other posts I said I was going to use some house rules, but, I’m finding it already challenging!

What I need are players who can compete with Man Utd, Man City, Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool, Spurs etc. I’m thinking between 80-85 OVR. My first thought was Samuel Eto’o. Had a decent season with Chelsea, now he’s at Everton. I enquired about him they wanted £6.5 million for him. He’s like 35 but still rated 81 OVR. Players like Vidic, Evra, van der Vaart. But I want to be fairly realistic, hence why I bought players like Lascelles and Chalobah.

My key areas of need are defenders, a central attacking midfielder - even though Lansbury is good, I need a rotation option. A winger and another striker. I have Assombalonga and Vietto that’s it! I sold Fryatt, so I don’t have that super sub. A Dzeko, Chicharito option would be nice.

Any ideas guys?

Get Sturridge from Liverpool, he's amazing. And you can get him in the 30-40 mill range.

You could go the younger route as well and pick up Domenico Berardi from Juventus I think, or maybe Anthony Martial from Monaco. Both would be around maybe 10 million. Attacking mid, you could get Oscar if he is available don't know what team he would be with because his contract is up at the end of the first season.

Ended up going with Adebayor who I got for £8 million. An absolute steal! I always feel he's been underrated. I brought him in, first EPL game against Everton, was down 2-0. Brought on Adebayor and he scored 2 goals. Ended 2-2. Just what I wanted him for! Super sub!

Skrtel for £6.6 million.
Sam Byram for £4.1 million
And I got Yohan Cabaye for like £10 million.

Was going to buy Jagielka for £1.5 million asking price, but, I have youth players I want to develop.

You could go for Alex Telles. A FB from Fenerbahce if I remember correctly. Another would Halilovic I think his name from Barcelona B team. Both should be low. But seeing how you are in the third year, should be more expensive

Re: £65 Million Who To Buy?

Depends how you play to a large extent.

Personally, I don't place a large emphasis on pace. I also tend to look for young players who will develop relatively quickly so I can make money in the long term. So keep that in mind.

I'm not sure to what extent you can get players from "big clubs" post financial takeover. So some of these might not be interested in a move to Forest.

Julian Draxler - Not sure if he'd sign with Forest, but you can get him for between £14-16m. Not much pace, as I mentioned, which some people don't like. But he's great for me. Amazing dribbling, good range of passing and a outstanding long shot. Can play LM or CAM.

Dennis Praet - Anderlecht are a gold mine for young talent. Praet is just another good one who can play AM and wide. Might be cheaper than Draxler.

Aleksander Mitrovic - Another Anderlecht prospect. Striker. He's going to be a beast (in real life too I think). Big and strong. Goof finisher, good in the air. I tend to play one up top and he has all the qualities I like for that.

Paco Alcacer - Valencia Striker. Being in your third season he might be too pricey by now or be sold, but he's the "Hernandez type" (Sorry I refuse to accept Chicharito haha). Not pacey, but great finishing, attack positioning, reactions etc. He's a poacher. I paid £15m for him with my Arsenal MM.

Junior Malanda - For me DMF is the most important position on the pitch. Even more so in FIFA 15. Malanda is a proper talent in terms of his power and size, with quality. I got him from Wolfsburg for £8m but that was early-ish in my MM. Really developed into a great player.

Alen Halilovic - This is a long shot, but clubs like Barca sometimes are willing to sell players who have great potential but less overall on FIFA, I've found. I've not signed him myself, but he's one of the best prospects in world football and he could be worth a look. Also, I got Marc Bartra for £5m and he's developed into an 80 CB so far.

Also have your scout instructions look for players with 0-1 years left on their contract. I got Khedira that way for free and if you have a lot of cash there might be one or two top players you can sign simply by offering them a lot of money.

Adebayor is a beast. Big body, great target man for crosses, and he is hard to knock off the ball.

Great bargain striker. He lead the league in goals in my Spurs CM.
