Cant change players

So whenever the ball is cleared I am unable to change to ANY player. I want to control someone closer to the ball so I can contest the ball in the air, but I cant change any player at all lol. Anyone else have this issue and is something in my settings set incorrectly?

That´s not suposed to happen. What platform are you playing?
Also, what assistance settings are you using? Manual switching or automatic?
Regardless of settings, that is strange.

This happened to me once but it was because I had set to lock on a player by accident. If you have auto switching on it's a bit of a pain to switch players. I turn autoswitching on only for aerial balls with high move assistance which works great for clearances goal kicks and crosses.

I am playing on PC and all my settings are manual except shot assistance is on semi. That tactical defending is on. No player switch assistance.

This has been a Fifa issue for years now.

It seems it's a way for the game to 'cheat' to aid the defending team. Why it's on the game, i don't know
