Although I'm sure it's possible that they could - they just simply don't. Not at a high enough percentage to worry about.
I've been using this as a strategy against CPU attacks. I'm clearing for corners any chance i get. I'm forcing them to take corners and it's killing their attack.
If you're struggling on defense (especially on WC), try this out. It's sound strategy and it can neuter the CPU if that's what you're after. Is it an exploit? Probably. Can't be bothered, I'm blasting balls 20 rows up out the back of my own goal line right now like a t-shirt cannon.
