It's just a terribly lazy way of creating difficulty. A lot of the issues we have with AI are actually intentionally there to make the game harder. If your AI teammates behaved like the cpu, you'd win every game. So somebody would actually have to, program some challenging AI and EA doesn't know anybody who can do that.

This is so accurate. I have talked to some other people really interested in breaking down how fifa ticks and we always come back to how they seemingly spend more time figuring out how to stop the human from being successful than they do making the AI more intelligent.

The incessant cpu toe pokes that were in every fifa before this one. And them being toned down immediately makes fifa 16 a better game

The blind cpu clearances to a mf who immediately started the cpu counter attack. Also toned down.

This year they deny user scoring by these methods:
Your cpu controlled players retreating the split second possession goes to the cpu

The framework of the goal

Subtle changes to shooting and dribbling being nerfed a bit

The magical shot absorption capabilities of cpu defenders body parts

The vast majority of the "loose" balls in the box going to the cpu (although this is a heavy by product of your players retreating)

The brutal offside calls. The ones where the line is on top of the line.
