If you're a keen FIFA fan, you've probably started to notice the FIFA 17 reviews trickling in. I've had a lot of time with the game so far, but we're going to hold back on our review temporarily for a couple of reasons. First, a patch has just been released containing a number of pre-release fixes. Also, I want to get more time in an online setting before summing up my thoughts.

We'll be unveiling our review as soon as we can, but in the meantime, I'm going to take this chance to sum up my initial impressions of this year's game.

Does anyone know whether there is a single player career mode that isn't "The Journey?" Every review I've read has been skewed toward "The Journey" but lacked mention of an alternative single player career mode.

Is there a patch notes for this patch anywhere? I've been trying to find it, but I'm not having any luck.

I think it needs to be noted that there virtually no new player face scans this year. There should also be some concern with the addition of only one new league and one new stadium outside of two in England. Couple this with many things fans have asked for (improved player editing, the ability to create a team or league for kick off or career mode) being neglected or completely ignored, and many long time FIFA players are feeling much less enthusiastic about this game than your average reviewer. While I'm sure review scores won't be lower than 8 of 10, many of us rate this years effort a 3 or 4 out of ten.

Yes, Career Mode contains the ability to play as a manager or as a single player.

When I try to read the article in the OP, I get an error that says the content is private and I'm prompted to log in to a web server. Very odd.
