Not running back in defense, you get benched IRL for this especially when you're not an attacking player.

Both look equally horrible. Sprinting to contain . It should be a jog or hell, analog sprint.

Updated title and OP. The patch is available for PC currently and will arrive on Xbox One and PlayStation 4 "soon"...

Not sure if they will ever fix the defense. It's this way on purpose because competitive/Esports players complained because guys were having the CPU do all the defending for them before. As usual online players break the game just so they can "win," and the rest of us deal with the consequences.
