    Your BAGM Line-up

If anyone is playing in BAGM mode and you either did a fantasy draft or are some years ahead in the organization, this is the place for you to share your line-up!

State what year you are in in the game, as well as the team of course, and whether or not you did a fantasy draft, and add the team record if you want!

This should be pretty cool to see what everyone has

    Team: Dallas Stars
    Season: 2014-2015
    Record: 22-9-1
    Set-Up: Fantasy Draft

    Line-Up (OVR):
    Left Wing...........................Center............................Right Wing
    Scott Gomez (84)...............Matt Duchene (87).............Jakub Voracek (87)
    Bryan Little (85).................David Krejci (84)...............Dustin Byfuglien (83)
    Riley Holzapfel (81)............Jarome Iginla (86)..............Tyler Ennis (84)
    Alex Tanguay (82)..............Mike Santorelli (78)............Daniel Paille (80)

    Left Defense..............Right Defense
    Mathieu Carle (78)........Brian Lee (79)
    Kyle Ellerby (78)..........Matt McCue (80)
    Jonathan Ericsson (79)..Barrett Jackman (86)

    Goalies
    Craig Anderson (83)
    Jakub Sedlacek (86)

So yeah, feel free to add, thought this might be nice for everyone to share who they are running with

    Re: Your BAGM Line-up

I simmed quite a lot with the Blues, waiting on the next roster update to actually start playing for real. Gotta say this BAGM post patch is a blast, even despite the wacky sim engine...With that said, fast forward to the year 2020! lol

David Perron (89) Evgeni Malikin (96) Sven Jensen (83)
Milan Lucic (85) Marek Sejna (87) Patrick Berglund (88)
Bobby Messier (82) Sebastian Wannstrom (81) Oldrich Tenkrat (83)
Bobby Kariya (79) Charlie Kelman (80) Miika Lehtonen (79)

Alex Pietrangelo (85) Erik Johnson (94)
Robert McEwan (85) Yuri Taratukhin (81
Brett Ponich (80) Tyler Yaworski (83)

    Jaroslav Halak (92)
    Jean-Sebastian Boucher (83)

Notes: I love how the draft is soooo well done, as well as player progression. I've had draft busts(most notably the virtual failure that is RW named Greg Baker. Drafted #2 overall, after I kid you not, a pick that was given to me for Phil Kessel! Baker came out with a 66 Overall rating at 18, is now 20 years old and rotting with the same rating on my AHL teams 4th line), surpise late rounders that have blossomed.

I got Malkin in 2014, and in 2015 won the cup against the Canadians(Price vs. Halak!), 2017 lost in the Cup against the Sabres. Lost in the first round in 2018, and the following years have failed to make the playoffs has i've lost stars like David Backes, Louis Erickson and an 88 overall barret jackman to old age.

You may have noticed I have an 83 rated RW on the first line. He is my unexplainable enigma goal scorer. Drafted in 2012, 6'6'' With a 68ish overall rating, He exploded on my AHL's 3rd line with 3 straight 40 goal seasons! Even after the first 2 years putting up those ridiculous numbers he was only a 74 overall(his offense stats through the roof, while everything defense is in the 50's/60's). So his 4th year he moved up to a 78, and with my Cup contending years looking done for, i decided to throw him on my NHL's 3rd line. On the 3rd line, at the age of 25, rookie, 78 overall, he throws up 38 goals, with 36 assists. Still didn't win the rookie trophy, because a rookie goalie had 36-33 record...(Goalies are still awarded everything). the Next year he jumps to 82, and as a what the hey experiment I throw him on the Perron Malkin line...and wow...at 82 overall he throws up 69 goals!!! 55 Assists, for a total of 124 points. Malkin finished with 26g, 83a, 109, Perron had 40g, 74a, for 114 pts...Ridiculous...Team got the first seed, then proceeded to get swept in the first round(thanks EA sim engine, that made sense!) The next year we didn't make the playoffs, but Jensen continued to score well with 49g, still an 83 overall

    Quick notes:
Marek Sejna, set as RW but 93 faceoff moves berglund. 6'8''!!, jumped from a 80 to 87 after one year in pros. Commanded a one year 7 mil instead of accepting is tendered offer...jerk

Messier, is a defensemen, with atrocious defense attributes, but ridiculous stats for a forward all 80's plus offense, great athlete, and 6'6''

Brett Ponich, is just now making it to the pros, he's 30 years old 6'8'', career AHLer gets his shot.

Oldrich Tenkrat, 6'7'', yep, team of monsters!

TJ Oshie never managed to get above an 83 overall, even spent time on the Malkin-Perron line, and still didn't produce. Eventually traded straight up for Nichales Bergfors.

I have found it very easy to pick up awesome UFA's in late November/December for quick one year deals for discounted prices(Jack Johnson, Marc Staal). Eventually they get signed most of them anyways, Victor Hedman is going on his 2nd year in FA, demanding 10 mil, Taveres 2nd year, 10 mil. 2020 has me worried though, cuz there is a lot of 90 overalls left unsigned in UFA's, currently at the start of the 20-21 season, there are 10 players rated 85 or above, and 6 of them are above 90 and demanding 10 mil a year! we'll see how it shakes up as the sim goes along

      Re: Your BAGM Line-up

^ Awesome reply! You wen't into so much detail, I have simmed about 3 bagm's now, I went the full 25 years on one and am part way through the other two. I started in Washington, and then got 45 wins when they wanted 46, so of course they dropped me! Even made it to the playoffs that year.

Jumped on with Nashville (I asked for rebuilders, I like to run the business side of things and go after big name guys, as well as give rookies and AHL guys their shots.)

This is what the lineup looks like going into the playoffs of the 2018-2019 season.

Thomas Vanek (84) Colin Wilson (88) Shawn Baby (74)
Matt Perzyna (74) Braeden Corbeth (81) Logan Prust (80)
Taylor Lambke (78) Claude Giroux (83) Mattias Tedenby (82)
Sean Bergenheim (78) Patric Hornqvist (82) Maxim Vishnevski (79)

Cody Franson (85) Ryan Ellis (90)
      Shea Weber (85) Charles-Oliver Roussel (82)
Brian Birkhoff (81) Kyle Cumiskey (80)

      Brandon Glover (86)
      Nathan Dunnett (79)

Quite the season, finished up 14th in the league (7th in west) with 41-33-8, 6th in the league is 271 goals, 16th pp/ 12th pk. Season started crappy dead last up through january then around the all star break i traded calvin pickard for brandon glover and tore it up from there. Rinne is in the minors with dismal numbers.

As for my rookies! Having a great year:
Shawn Baby: G: 34 A: 56 PTS: 90 *Leads the League in rookie scoring (all categories) & 6th in NHL in points
Matt Perzyna: G: 15 A: 40: PTS: 55 *3rd in League in rookie scoring (points, assists)
Rob Sutter: G: 5 A: 2 PTS: 7 (Sent back to minors after 59 games of nothing!)

So rookie explosion for me this year, may update after the playoffs. EA's overall ratings for players in garbage i've gotta say

*Update, Lost in Western Conference Finals to Columbus 4-2, got past St. Louis in first round 4-1 and Colorado in round 2 4-2.

      Awards:
Snubbed, went to some garbage goalie out of anaheim (38-39, 3.14 GAA, 89.6% sv)

*Accepted contract renewal (3 years, 39 wins)

I like to follow two rules strictly when I play

Build from within: I only trade toward my team needs, and I don't pick up all the star free agents. I build my prospects and draft well.(See: Detroit)

I don't trade for prospects/picks from struggling/rebuilding teams, because it's too easy in this game and it's not realistic, the worst teams in the league deserve the best prospects, it's how the NHL stays competitive.

Yea, I don't get how totally changing the teams is fun (guys in 2020 or whatever I understand, but year 1 or 2 and having like half new roster)
I'n my 3 gm's i've done (restarts because of rosters, sigh) I've made 1 major trade, Marc Savard + Bos 2011 1st for Karlsson from ott.

And yea , what jerks take the fail teams draft picks, those guys in boston are not fair to toronto (I'm kidding of course, I know what you mean, and don't get why people would do that)

I totally agree with your approach, so much cooler to see your roster filled with guys that started in your own system. In fact the only guys on my team listed above who weren't drafted by me/blues were about 5 guys, the rest were all draft picks, heck, Ponich, and Wannstrom were both 2nd/3rd round picks just these last two years. Halak is like 35 years old, and like the new Broduer or something! With key players like Johnson, Petro, Berglund, Perron still here as well. Malkin I had to get...just had to...sitting on UFA forever!

                      Florida Panthers
1st year, 25 games or so in

                      Forwards:

                      Olesz - Hanzal - Frolik

                      Higgins - Weiss - Grabner

                      Dawes - Matthias - Bernier

4th line is any combination of:

                      Stillman/Lang/Cheechoo/Reinprecht/Dvorak

                      Defense:

                      Bergeron - Allen

                      Kulikov - Mara

                      Ellerby - Garrison/Weaver

                      Goalies

                      Vokoun
                      Clemmensen

At the start of the season I traded Booth, McCabe, Wideman to PHX for Hanzal, Lang and MacLean.

The cap space in that I got in that deal allowed me to sign M. A Bergeron, Mara, Cheechoo and Dawes.

                        Re: Your BAGM Line-up

So far in my BAGM i have made two trades

Christensen to Florida for a 2nd rnd pick
Fedetenko to Colorado for a 2nd rnd pick

I try to keep it as realistic as possible, the two trades i made were to thin out my roster as i had young guys who could do the same job. I am going to try build through the draft but as i said in another thread i do need a #1C.

I will most likely wait until the trade deadline to see how my situation is, if i am in with a shout of making the playoffs i might try to pick up someone who will help but if i am out of the running i will trade away guys like Frolov, Prospal and Rozsival for picks and prospects.

The more picks i accumulate the bigger a splash i will make at the draft, its about time the Rangers drafted an elite talent and future of their franchise.

Ideally i'd like to lose Redden and Todd White who are in Hartford but nobody in real life would take them so they are both riding the bus in the AHL.

                          Re: Your BAGM Line-up

I try to keep it pretty realistic if I don't do the fantasy draft, even if I do the fantasy draft I keep it pretty 'home made' in that I will develop my draft picks, and build them up. If I draft a 74+ or so, I will usually give them a chance in the NHL, as they are usually too young to play for my AHL affiliate and will just sit in the Minors if I don't bring them up to the NHL.

As for trades, I usually don't make very many, however if people aren't performing, mainly goalies, then I have no problem getting rid of them. As for free agents, I usually filter the field based on their potential, I draft young players and sign young guns. I do not usually pick up veterans because as time goes on they just seem to plummet, going from 90 to 87 in one year then down to 83 or so, then into the 70's and they fall off the face of the earth. It is kind of pathetic how quickly they deteriorate, but thats just how it is.

I do like to build from within though, its better than trading around to get 'big contracts' I am pretty sure I have the youngest teams year in and year out, usually around 25._ average age.

I don't usually pick up draft picks anyhow, i'm more likely to use mine to get a decent player in a trade since i usually play with the Blues and they have a good core to build on.
I find that a lot of times if i make a crazy trade (I traded Perron and 2 1st round picks, and an AHL prospect for Malkin...i think that's what i gave...) that i just lose interest in it.
Something about Malkin being on the Blues just took the fun out of it. (Although he did destroy for us). I like to keep it semi realistic, but then again, there are things i try to do.
Like in my dynasty before i lost my xbox, i traded a prospect and i think it was a 1st round for Byfuglien. He fit in perfectly on my Blues.
I would alternate him between playing on my Defensive line with Johnson so i would have 2 good scoring D-men who could also hit, and having him play as a forward with Backes and Oshie on my PP so i had a bruising power play line that could also score, and check.
I'm not opposed to picking up good players if i see them in free agency (I picked up Seabrook when Chicago couldn't afford to keep him).
But i try not to get too crazy. But i know the Blues wouldn't pass on getting Seabrook if they could!
