    Goalie consistency attribute - IMPORTANT!

    I haven`t seen it mentioned yet,.....but last year the goalies consistency attribute was screwed up in the rosters....looks to be the same so far with this year`s rosters.

    So far,....all the goalies I`ve looked at have this attribute set at 1

    As well,the system they use,... 0 - 1 - 2 ,....isn`t as straight forward as it looks.

    Last year,RedShirt provided info on this attribute.

    0 = very consistent
    1 = avg consistency
    2 = very inconsistent

    I am going to assume this hasn`t changed,until I find out for certain.

    I did make the change to a few goalies in the rosters,.....for testing purposes,to make sure,...so far,it looks to be how I`m telling it.

    Yeah, it's been that way for as long as I can remember. All you have to do is look at the top-rated goalies and you'll see more zeroes, while poorly rated guys are more likely to have twos.

    When I used to do more editing, this was something I always liked to adjust to give the goalies a little more individuality. Some guys aren't "bad" goalies based on their skills, but their inconsistency holds them back. This is one attribute that definitely shows itself in gameplay. Last year I gave Fleury a two before starting a season and wouldn't you know it, I never knew what to expect from him game-to-game. This, along with some exaggeration of other strengths/weaknesses, gave them more personality.

    This would be a good thing for mattg123 to work into his rosters. As a matter of fact, Rogie, you seem to be a goalie guy... are you going to give him any input?

    PS - This is more of a roster topic than sliders, so I'm going to move it.

      Exactly,..I`m already on it,...talked with Puckhead,....but I`m halfway done the edits for NHL goalies(which is the focus for now,....AHL,CHL goalies will get love as things sort themselves out more.

      I will say that the edits are working great with my sliders,....I was pretty confident about them,....as they saved NHL11 for me.
      I figured out the sweet spot for so many things right now...it`s really a gas playing.

      The goalies are playing great but the scoring is there too,...just spectacular.

      I`m working on BaP goalie tuning at the moment.....almost have that nailed too,....more or less in the fine tuning stage.
      I really need to talk to a developer,....gurn would be perfect,..as I have some suggestions to fix the human goalie controls.
      I`ll be making a huge post about that soon.......but my suggested changes to the controls,....very minor, simply add a modifier button,....the x button,..to toggle between the NHL11 goalie control scheme where using the paddle down technique is perfect and the NHL12 control scheme where the VH technique would be available.
      You could then go into post hug with paddle down,...and while hitting x you would switch the the VH stance,......as it is now,....you can not do this.

      You have to be outside the rectangular crease dimensions for the paddle down to activate,.....which almost renders the paddle down technique USELESS....VERY DISTURBING.....seeing the cpu controlled goalies can do exactly what I`m talking about,...post hug in paddle down,swithch to VH,..they can paddle down anywhere,..middle of the crease,..no sweat,.....humans,...nope...S.O.L.

      The solution is simple,and it would be a humongous improvement.

      Paddle down,....the left leg twitch....<facepalm>

      one more goalie control bug....

      anyone notice how when you are in butterfly(human goalie control),...outside the paint,sigh,.....if you go into paddle down...the goalie has to get to his feet then he drops down into paddle down stance.

      Again the cpu goalies don`t do this,.....or human goalies in the real world....and I would know,....42 yrs of playing goal you pick up a few things,....especially when it`s at the world class level.

        What's really stupid is that EA implements a slider with 3 different settings, 0, 1, and 2, and then sets every single goalie in the game to 1. What's the point of having the slider in there if they, the game programmers, aren't even going to use it? Most casual gamers won't go into the edit player part of the game and no one would be able to figure out that 0 = most consistent if they don't go toiling around on message boards like this one. It makes no sense to me and shows that EA is pretty ******* bush league for such a large developer.

          I dont see anything wrong with this. Most goalies has "avg consistency", so a 1 would be the thing to use.

          Luongo, Fleury, Vokoun, Lundqvist, you name it. Every goalie in the league has some good and some bad nights. We have all seen these guys act like a wall some nights while the next day they let in 5 goals in 15 shots. It happenes, so i think "avg consistency" is the perfect setting.

            If the attribute works as it did in NHL11,then it doesn`t hurt to attempt to use it for some fine tuning of goalie behavior.

            It`s there,use it.

            What do you say to every goalie being set as a hybrid?

            They did that too.

                I will try to get that posted here for you.

                Now I`m still not 100% sure if that`s how the thing is working for NHL12,but it`s what i`m going to go by.
                I`ll be observing to see.
