Tip on winning faceoffs in All-star/Superstar

    Hey there,

I noticed that the only reason why I lose in all-star/superstar is because I can't win faceoffs. I'm using sim sliders, I can shoot but I only win about 2-3 faceoffs per game, it's horrible. I do the same thing as I do with pro, with pro I win a lot.

Anyone can give me tips? Thanks.

Do your centers have good faceoff ratings? I always win more faceoffs on Pro than on All-Star (which is expected), and while the computer always seems to win more than me on All-Star I still win my fair share. The centers I use with high faceoff ratings seem to do fine for me but guys with lower faceoff ratings can't win them on All-Star to save their lives.

For example as the Blackhawks Yanic Perrault is almost automatic on faceoffs for me, and his rating is very high (can't remember it off the top of my head), Robert Lang is a tossup, hes got a good but not great faceoff rating, and a guy like Tuomo Ruutu seems to rarely win any for me, his faceoff rating is pretty average.

I think a lot of it is in the ratings, on Pro I can win a lot of faceoffs with any of them, on All-Star it seems like their rating plays a lot more into it.

Yeah well, I do the same as pro, i tried to time it better, focus on the ref and stuff but nothing works, even with my first line, I never won more than 3 on 10-minutes periods.

I'm not great at faceoffs either but my best success comes when I flick the stick once just as the puck is being dropped and then a second time when it hits the ice. Don't know if that's the correct technique or not but I won just a little less than half my faceoffs my last game on All Star.

Interesting, I'll have to try the double flick. I struggle on and off with faceoffs and one of things I noticed is that when I flick the stick quickly, I win more. When I sort of slowly pull the stick, I lose more. Maybe on all star it's based not only on your timing but how quickly you pull the stick back?

yeah it's way too easy on Pro - you will win draws if you do nothing - but it seems way too hard on All-Star. Kind of a microcosm of the game itself. I think the game is very easy on Pro, but at times almost completely impossible on All-Star. Too many times I see 6 tape to tape passes and then my goalie getting sunburn.

So just to be clear you flick the Right Analog Stick to win face-offs? You pull back (toward your defense) and the better you time that the better your chances of winning them?

I just can't believe I have to ask such a basic control question but it wasn't listed in the manual or anywhere in the controls in the game settings, and I haven't played NHL in at least 4-5 years. But know that I'm back I can't believe I was gone for so long, except never winning a face-off cause I don't know what I'm doing is my only gripe. Sooooo, right stick to win?

Yes, right stick to win. The double flick does indeed seem to help.
