I cant pass!!!

How come my passes are always slower than my opponents online or even the CPU? Seems like there is no power on my passes. What am i doing wrong? Do I hold the LT button when I pass or can i just use the the RT to pass and hold that longer... So confused... Any help would be really appreciaed.

You aren't the only one. Passing is way way too difficult. Holding the button "charges" the pass, but by the time you release it, usually you're decked or its nowhere near the person you are passing to. I'm utterly frustrated by this game right now.

On the default settings holding the button doesn't charge the pass, the pass is triggered as soon as LT goes down. If you are on Hardcore and not liking it then switch the passing off of Manual.

Online games do not use Hardcore settings.

I'm loving the 360 passing...the fact that you have to aim where you want the pass to go is fantastic.

While I SUCK with the new controls, the fact that they are there is awesome. I'm sure I'll get the hang of things soon enough.

My only beef with this is that you can make the human passing really difficult while the comp really doesn't have that much of a problem even when you lower it's sliders.. so ultimately this kind of makes it just for people who want to really up the difficulty. I think that was pretty much the intention, though...

My offense is really struggling, but then I'll have that amazing pass that makes these controls so worth it.

I cannot wait until I get use to this passing.

Yep..the User passing can be a challenge this year.

But man it feels great to thread a pass between a few defenders, and get a good scoring chance. Most everything feels more rewarding with '10'.

Too much of a challenge, really. IMO, in order for the hardcore passing to be a worthwhile edition, there needs to be some kind of indicator, like a temporary arrow that appears below the puck-carrier showing the direction of the pass as you aim, but before you actually pass it. The stick just isn't accurate enough. You think you're aiming in one direction, but you're really quite off the mark.

I had this problem with one of the 2k hockey games for the original XBox. It allowed you the same kind of free passing. In the end, I ended up putting the assist slider at about 50%. This made passes acceptably accurate, but also allowed for passes off the boards. I used the same settings last night on NHL10 to good effect.

I can't use the hardcore, because even fully charged, human passes seem slow. Also, in the first patch, the developers need to address the cpu passing. Even with their accuracy slider all the way down, they still manage ~83% accuracy every game, which is somewhat annoying. I'm enjoying using the all star settings with hardcore sliders except for having pass assist at about 1 to 2 bumps to help me out. GREAT game overall though.

I skipped hardcore and went to "normal" mode after the demo. I like what they were trying to do with hardcore mode, but I think they took it a little too far.

I found in hardcore mode I was ignoring the pass and just "hot-dogging" it all the time.

Passing is a little too fast in normal, but I haven't touched sliders yet either. Overall normal mode is still a huge improvement over the laser passes in 09. You can still pull off passes, but things like cross crease and other passes into good scoring areas are far from automatic. In hardcore mode, they seemed to never happen, but in normal you can pull them off still. One timers happen, but not nearly as often.

I should have mentioned that I'm using the Normal setting.

Yeah...myself I'm not a big fan, at least at this point, of the Hardcore passing. The normal setting is a good balance for me.

I find that normal mode passing feels about perfect. It isn't 100% manual, but if you are not careful you can definitely screw up some passes. I'm guessing is is manual passing but with more of an assist?

To still get inaccurate passing without going hardcore (I'm not interested in the pressure-sensitive passing stuff) I set the game (cpu aid) on normal and put the pass assist slider to 0. Is that correct? What about the manual passing setting located below the pass assist slider? Should that be on or off? Thanks anyone.

I didn't mess with any of the sliders. I just put the general gameplay setting to normal. Normal and default are two different settings I believe. I think I read on the EA blog that Normal is the way online play is set to, so I want to get used to that feel.
