Re: NHL 11 Wishlist

we need more presentation distinctions between arena... more attention to detail... i would like more crowd - player interaction (more realistic chants) .. better crowd awareness (difference between 1st goal of game and a game winning goal).. crowd gets out of seat... less attendance in places like florida, tampa and columbus. real goal horns and songs already in the game.. but overall more attention to detail (on ice and in the crowd)

Re: NHL 11 Wishlist

I think its time for a system scrap.
Between nhl 09 and nhl 10, there were only a few touch ups and changes, nothing major. nhl 11 should be a complete revamping of the system, like the 08-09 transition.
For example, I would really like to see a better defense system. I absolutely adore Fifa, and when I play, I can see soccer. Player graphics aside, the interaction between them is great. In real hockey, a check is not the only way to initiate contact. Sometimes players just collide, push and shove in front of the net, drive hard to the net, slam into the goalies, etc... The physical engine should take notice of all of this.
Also, when players deke, there feet aren't glued to the ice. Half of the effort is fooling the goaltender with what your body is doing.
Finally, the poke check, stick lift, hook, system could really be improved. Lifting the stick shouldn't be as easy as pushing a button.
When you watch a good defender, all they have to do is tap the stick left or right, not lift the stick up five feet in the air. Forwards playing D at the point should be able to move their feet in skate in whatever direction while having there sticks pointed wherever they chose. They should change vision control: make it so that you skate slower but more freely with the left analog and have complete control of your stick with your right. They should use motions like they do with shooting and deking.
All these changes would make for realer looking, and probably much harder, hockey.

Re: NHL 11 Wishlist

Gagnon hit it on the head, goalie injuries, goalie injuries, goalie fatigue, goalie injuries and the ability for goalies to get injured from injuries to the goalie!!!

Also, long term injuries. Season ending and possibly, injuries that carry over to the next year as far as the affects go (i.e just look @ Peter Forsberg. Also, Selanne had knee surgery and before the lockout wasn't playing up to par with his skill set, now his knee is fully healed and he's awesome again).

Another thing is how the CPU tried to avoid hits when they're entering the Off Zone. The skate back towards their Def Zone, or stop and try to reverse their direction and it's very unnatural looking and throws off the flow of the game a lot of the time. CPU needs to take the hit, dump the puck in and stop being a sissy, hehe.

I'll go one further, give us a teambuilder similar to NCAA '10, but with enough slots that you could basically create a college hockey league with rosters and jersies. While this engine is clearly better than the 2k engine, the fact is that we've been playing the same game with incremental improvements since NHL 07. I don't foresee a major reboot in this generation of consoles, unfortunately, so if they're out of ideas, give us customization to create the type of hockey teams/leagues we want.

Re: NHL 11 Wishlist

Goalies, goalies, goalies. It is a joke how they play online, 90% of the time when you get a two on one against a good player he'll just lie down in the crease taking away both dekes and one timers, and I can count on one hand the number of times the goalie gets beaten by an unscreened wrist shot. It's gotten to the point where everyone just gives up the wrist shot from the slot because it's stopped so easily and the AI defense is too stupid to mark a player in position for a one timer. Fix the skating engine too, players need to have acceleration. Dump and chase is practically worthless since a defense man can turn and get to the puck just as quickly as a forward who is in full stride entering the zone.
