    faceoffs..

This is the first year I've bought this game and I have a question about faceoffs. From what I see in controls I'm supposed to click on the right analog stick (R3 on PS3) to try to win the faceoff. However, I played a game earlier today and didn't win any faceoffs. Do I understand the control correctly?? Any tips??
    Thanks!

you dont click it, you flick it in the direction of your defencemen.. you've probably noticed you guy wasn't even moving his stick.

      Re: faceoffs..

Thanks...actually it was so fast that I never did notice it..I couldn't figure out what I was doing wrong. I did try moving the stick several times in previous games but it still wasn't clear. Thanks again!

Well, I just played a practice game and was flicking the stick but I still couldn't win any faceoffs. I think at this point it's a timing issue..I'm not flicking at the right time (I'm flicking when I see the puck dropped but proabably a little early or late.)

Yes, you have to flick the stick right when the hand of the ref goes up on it's up and down motion. It also depends on the players faceoff rating.

              Re: faceoffs..

On 360 you have to hold the stick down, not flick it, to be successful.
I suppose it is the same on ps3.

But it has very much to do with rating.

Yup..flick stick towards defensemen right when ref hand moves..I usually do multiple clicks fast

                    Re: faceoffs..

You have to also hold the R1 (or RB for 360) down while you take your face off. You will see that your centerman gets extra power on his face off win and it helps with the timing. This is NECCESARY online, don't let your opponent fool you into thinking he's better at face offs.

This is the first time I've ever heard of this. Worth a shot I suppose...

Ya, what they said....its all about timing, I had a problem too, now I win about 60-70% of draws...

I find if the cpu takes a few early swipes they win more but if I copy it I have a better chance if that makes sense

How can you hold down on the L1 button (ps3) while taking a faceoff when you are supposed to aim with the L stick the direction you want to win the faceoff? lol, i only have two hands not three.

My bad fellas you hold down R1 or RB to get extra power on your faceoffs. Obviously you still need to be on time. I find if I don't take any early swipes at the face off and use R1 I win at least 90% of the faceoffs.
