How I would change the default control scheme

All right, we're now in iteration 4 of the new control scheme and I wondering why it hasn't changed at all over the years. There are still some smaller details that could be changed here, that would make the controls more consistent I feel:

I still don't understand why I have to use the right stick to check on defense or have to first hold down an additional button to swipe with my stick. When the analogy here is "the right analog stick handles you stick on the ice", shouldn't you be able to pokecheck with the right stick and have a check button instead?

Also, I don't really like the separation of two pass buttons. Why not have the hight of you pass be determined by how long you press the pass button? Tip the button for a quick pass and hold it don't longer for a saucer pass. That would free up a button and in a strange way make sense, since those types of passes are more difficult to pull of for a real hockey player.

Looks like Tom hasn't played the series long enough to remember that controls were customizable on the PC platform from NHL 2004-2008. Perhaps bringing back that feature would solve your issues?
