Yes, but I'm guess they are still going to have boosts?
Why are equipment boosts so bad, it just adds extra customization. It is annoying that you can buy them, but at least that isn't the only option, they aren't that difficult to unlock, just need to put some time in offline
Hopefully there are still some unique designs. It would be rad if they let you create customized equipment, and put a photoshop design, or upload a pic from your PS3, to your equipment.

I never implied I hate them, just it sucks for new players who don't have any boosts whereas players who have been playing for awhile have them, but I have no problem with boosts.

EA tunes the game so that more players will elect to buy the boosts instead of earn them. It ruins the Be a Pro, because it would be fun to earn them if they were set to reasonable levels.
That was my problem with Madden Ultimate Team. I loved the concept, except that it was tuned in such a way that playing without buying cards was pointless. I would have enjoyed earning cards. I would have enjoyed it enough to pay for he privilege to play the mode. But when tying the payments to the card directly, it zaps the fun out of building a team.
Boosts were fine in both NHL and Tiger woods, until they first made it so you could buy them, and then tuned the game to drive as man y sales of boosts as possible. Then it was no longer fun to earn them, because EA specifically made it torture.
I have absolutely loved the direction of EA sports since Peter Moore took over, except for this one area. It's not monetizing the game, but how they have chosen to do so.
I guess overall I don't mind the boosts & gear as it gets the developers more money beyond the initial sale of the game. Every game these days is littered with DLC anyways, may as well get their slice.
I don't know, I was really hoping to have really big skates and a red rubber ball nose. Oh well.
Seriously though, the only 2 boosts that I bought were +5 speed (since you had to score 200 goals online) and +3 Acceleration (since you had to have a +20 online).
Other than that, I really did not think any of the other boosts were all that difficult to unlock. Time consuming definitely, but not really that hard.
Because they brag about how they've got such a good and realistic game, and you see people skating around with Santa hats on. In all honesty I'm scared about the EASHL practice deal, it freezes so much just sitting in the player lobbies for more than five minutes, I can't wait to see how many times it freezes or drops players from practice.
