    online team play character

Planing on getting the game on christmas. What is the best type of player
ie: grinder, sniper, etc. To start out with for the most points in useful categories. Also are the player types starting attributes different from NHL 10.

I believe they are about the same as NHL 10, give or take.

Really, just pick whatever player type you want. Obviously, you get a different
set of attributes with each player type. So, just pick what you feel suits you.
In the end, its the guy on the sticks(you) that has the most influence.

I picked a two way forward, and see no difference in my play then when I had a power forward and sniper last year.

2WF in my opinion is the best balanced type to go with until you unlock the Superstar card, after that you have adequate points to make a reasonable build using playmaker or power forward. Sniper seems the worst type this year out of the offensive builds.

The game is so physical that having poor defensive stats, like the sniper has, is a real disadvantage unless you have a really talented group of players. OTP is physical hockey all the way.

I've played 275 games on D and around 30 on Off. and I have to say that the 2WD and 2WF are the best fit for me.

They have what I need offensively and defensively to be effective in all zone's while beeing solid enough to sustain hitting and forechecking.
