i've deleted all my NHL 12 files and re-installed the patch. Completly avoided all the tuner updates and this game is playing fantastic. I was hesitant at first but compared to how thisgame played with the tuners to without is like night and day. Do it, you won't regret it!

after you delete the patch what tuner set are you actually playing on? 1.00? what are some of the differences?

penalties are balanced... i'm running this game with the 1.04 update but NO tuners. i'm seeing more lively bounces around the net, skating feels looser and the CPU is active in the offensive zone. i just love how it plays. i've had to re-install my goal songs and stuff but no problem.

yeah its the default tuner. It plays looser I guess is the right way of putting it.

are the shot totals close? is there a site that has all the tuner updates listed? i forget what each one fixed. how do you play with NO tuners? doesnt it make you select one?

nope. it prompts me to download one but I just don't press triangle to do it. Shot totals are close. I really can't say how much better this game is without those tuners. the puck bounces and =the battles are much more realistic

Are you saying there's a difference between playing the game with all the updates (patches and tuners) installed and using tuner version 1.00, than playing it with just the patches installed? Without the tuners installed, the game defaults to version 1.00, no?

thats exactly what i'm trying to get across. with the 1.04 patch and the tuners adjusted to v1.00 the game plays significantly worse than if you were to run the game with just the patch and the default v1.00 tuner. there seems to be a major difference in setting up the game this way.

I've had no freezes running it this way, and the gameplay is finally at a playable medium, much like when i first popped the game in this year.

Can someone tell me how to delete all the tuners and patches on PS3? Can I do so without screwing up my season? When I re-install 1.04 will it work on current season or do I need to start over (I think it will work - just want to make sure)? Thanks in advance.

So, FWIW, I did this as well and the first game had 3 penalties aside by the middle of the 3rd period. Then the game froze. I played over 100 games and never had a freeze. Not saying this is because I did this, but normally I play without being logged into EA servers so I believe that is the real reason for the freeze.

I tried this as well before I went to playing without the update and I had freezing like crazy and still had no penalties. I now play with no update installed at all and I use tuner 1.00. Game is good.

can't you just use the patch...and then go into the options and just use tuner 1.00 and not delete all of your game data?

yes you can.

just to note: i went back to tuner 1.00 and no PP's in 3 games and all 3 froze late in the 3rd period (I am offline)

I had been experimenting with reverting back to game tuner 1.00 which made some mild improvements for me. then I came across this post and decided to try it.

WOW! deleting everything and reverting the game back to its 'out of the box' state has totally brought back the fun for me. The skating feels fluid, pucks are looser, passes are missed by both CPU and user, pucks bounce and rebound like they do in real life and penalties are back! I just played a game where the cpu had 5pp and me 6. There was a variety of calls too, delay of game, roughing, slashing, tripping. Definately worth trying!
