Re: PS3 Graphics Issue
The game definitely looks considerably worse than NHL 12 and even 11 when in the default top down gameplay. It's not nearly as noticeable when the game cuts to close in shots.
It's really apparent on the goalie at the top of the screen and the Kings numbers aren't very easy on the eye. Stripes are really indistinct in motion, yes, but this is a bit too much.
Will get the 360 demo ( when the fix they EU marketplace ) and see what's what. I doubt this new look is an intentional by-product of the new bump-mapping or rink lighting model as, to be honest, it looks poor.
Hopefully this won't be an issue with the retail but it's a worry, as I played the previous games in 720p ( couldn't be bothered switching after playing The Show ) and it didn't look as bad as the 13 demo.
For all my talk of the game being 99 percent the same on the the big two formats, this year cannot buck this trend!Comment

Re: PS3 Graphics Issue
I noticed this too right from the start - the light looks kind of odd - way to dark, especially on the player models. It's almost as if this was a previous gen game.
Having said that, I think the light is better on Free Skate. Not sure, maybe it's in my head but from what i've seen online played on Xbox, the PS3 seems different and inferior.
Hopefully this is just the demo and they'll fix this for launch.Comment

Re: PS3 Graphics Issue
I play on an older PS3 and haven't had an issue. No blurry graphics, no lag, nothing.
Am I completely mistaken but I seem to recall that a number of people reported similar issues on the NHL12 PS3 demo last year, no? And then there were almost no issues (of this kind) with the retail game. If I'm right, it's weird that the demo has issues but the retail doesn't have the issues. Go figure.Comment

Re: PS3 Graphics Issue
It is at 720p and maybe you guys haven't taken into account that I compared it to the Xbox 360. I can tell you without a doubt it is blurry and the lighting seems to be not so good either. I obviously am not the only one to say this. Clearly it's an issue and it should be resolved in the retail I am hoping.Comment

Re: PS3 Graphics Issue
I tried switching my PS3 to a max of 720p from 1080i and it might have looked every so slightly better but the effect was still quite jarring. The crowd don't seem to be too affected so it's almost as if the motion blur is at fault, kinda of like it's impacting the players when they're hardly moving.
Perhaps it's not as noticeable on larger HD TVs but on my 32inch screen it sticks out like a sore thumb. A lot of people are noticing it and this is definitely something in the game rather than any equipment issue.Comment

Re: PS3 Graphics Issue
Its indeed blurry on the PS3. The graphics got a...strange feel to em. The lightning seems off too. Hope it doesnt carry over to retail. Doubt it does but IF it DOES I will not buy NHL 13.Comment
