Re: The ai advantages...

One of the AI advantages that kills me is their ability to pin a fast moving target. I can be skating behind the net full speed and they are able to stop me in my tracks to begin pinning me and lots of time I have a full stride on the guy chasing me however, like glue, I am stuck.

It's pretty clear how to do two things to avoid this.

One, it becomes really easy to read when you have time and when you don't. The awkward animation doesn't mean the AI is cheating.

Two, you should learn how to use the defenders momentum against him to clear room to get behind the net.

Yeah, you have less room than it feels like you should, but it is really just an awkward looking animation that gets triggered when they catch you. I can't believe guys are continuing to try and cut behind the net when they know the CPU will catch them. I surely don't think it needs to be easier to gain space behind the net, as it is already super easy.

Re: The ai advantages...

We're not getting into a pissing contest of how to play the game.

The thread is titled, "The ai advantages..."

The "ai" CAN pin you when your skating full speed.

A human player CANNOT pin an "ai" player in the same situation.

Thus, "The ai advantages..."

Well, that's not actually true. You can pin the AI when it is going full speed, but it is hard to time. But with practice, it's possible, even though the AI does not put itself in an easy position to get pinned as often as you guys apparently do.

And it is also possible to avoid the getting pinned by not providing an easy target. But learning from the AI is not something some gamers are willing or able to do.

Re: The ai advantages...

I have found this to be a problem for years but it seems much improved for me this year.

However, What really stuck out to me in NHL 13 was the CPU's hitting ability on all star. Every time they hit me regardless if the players involved or the speed/momentum of my player or the CPU, I went flying clear away from the pub andmy player did that strange flopping animation on the ice like a fish was trying to swim on ice.

I have found that since the update/tuners got rid of the goofy animation and when I turned down the CPU's hitting in the sliders , that problem went away.

I find the CPU teams are randomly hot/cold this year. I don't know if that's programmed in but it seems like it, but I love it! I am in the western finals against the sharks. I lost a close game one 3-2, then destroyed then in game 2 with a score of 6-2, and niemi was pulled.

Then game 3 niemi was incredible and I lost 1-0 even though I outshot hen 30-17. Game 4 I also lost 4-1 with a high number of shots from both teams.

The only real problem I have found for me is penalties. There are not enough of them that I take or the CPU takes. It drives me crazy. I can play a rare game when 3 on each team are called but usually it is none called at all or they call 1 the entire game and its on me.

The CPU in my game almost always gets away with interference and hitting from behind, it's very frustrating.

All in all, I'm really enjoying the gameplay in be a gm. I wish they would do some huge changes to the other aspects of be a GM, but that's for another thread.

I agree!

Re: The ai advantages...

AI cheats like hell. Been doing it since NHL 10 at least. I even managed to snap a pic this year of the score board showing the ridiculousness in the impressions thread. It was like 5 goals in 5 minutes or some crap like that. There's those goals that they score where you just can't do anything. They bounce off every check, keep the puck no matter what, waltz right in and score on a shot a goalie in junoir high could've stopped. It's at the point where it's so obvious and you KNOW it's coming, you can see and feel the shift when that's going to happen. It's worse than the original NBA Jam.
