I'll get the pallbearer as well... But if there is a shortened season and someone like the blue jackets wins the cup look out
I know I have read a lot of comments (especially on canadian websites) that when a team wins it, it should come with an asterisk. But I'll bet a month's paycheck (or should I say paycheque) that if a Canadian team wins, all those calls for an asterisk will mysteriously disappear.
Back on topic, I too hope they release such a patch but I doubt it. But, since all the news sites say NHL teams will be doing promotions to say "sorry" to the fans, maybe EA will patch that in with goalie fatigue this year. Yeah, probably a pipedream unless they believe such work will increase buy rates. But I'll still keep an eye out all the same.

It'll go right with requests for a customizable/shorterned schedule for season mode/BAGM. Things like goalie fighting and glass breaking have been more important.
a) The Stanley Cup has been won by a lot of teams that didn't play a full 84 game NHL season. Do all those that pre-date the NHL need to get an * too?
b) I'll pass on that people want a shortened season to the dev team. I'm not sure if that's something they can easily do though, our system wasn't really designed for variable season lengths.

Can I ask why it's the case? Who in the war room decided that variable season lenghts wasn't something important?
Maybe it's because EA want to stick with what's going on in the game (82 game schedule)? Maybe it's a fact that throughout survey, customization of # of games wasn't a topic that pop out?
I just don't know and really curious because to be quite honest, there's always 2 things coming out from people playing the game around me : Saving games when you play online and season lenghts.
As for the A point, since there wasn't much 84 games season (2 in fact), then there would be a mostly asterix except Montreal in 93 and New York in 94. ;-)

As I said I'm not sure. I'm not on the dev team, and they may have a way of doing it. I'm just guessing that given the league rarely changes season lengths it may be harder than you'd assume to change in-game.
Everything in software development is harder than you'd expect, and everything is interconnected. I'm sure we'll let you know either way, the deal just got done and we'll all still trying to figure out what that means for NHL 13.
As I say for now all I can say is that I'll pass the request on to the dev team.

Thanks, appreciate the kind answer. I know everything is pretty tied up in the development process. It's just that there's features like offline ability to save a game or season customization that dissapeared without no explanation why, and I was still curious to know what was the deciding factor to leave them out.
Anyway, for me in 2013, will be more about intelligent discussions and less criticizing even though at times there's thing that frustrates me like crazy. So, it's nice you took time to get here and reply to us, will wait for more info from the Dev. Team in the near future! :-)

i dont know why ea cannot give us a shortened BaGM season like 2k? why leaving users no choice but to play/sim 82 games?
I believe (and cannot substantiate) it's mainly because at it's true core, BeaGM is EXACTLY the same structure as it was when it was first introduced. Unless they start over again which could be costly, I'm certain this is one of the main reasons why.

or perhaps....if EA let us play 41 games per or even less, the progressions of players, schedule of games etc. will be obviously flawed? in the past series, on the 2nd season, schedules are not realistic. seeing like 8 games consecutive days with different teams and great distance of travel.
