So stuck on if I should get it or not

Hey all, I am now in college, living at home so still get to play my Ps3, still work and get money. The thing is, I am trying to really limit myself on games to get as I can get other things like a jersey or something. Hockey is not my first sport, but It is fun to play, and the demo felt great.

I just can't decide on whether to just keep myself out of this game and enjoy the real thing, or indulge in the fun. so hard to think right now, and I wonder if any of you guys have had these thoughts.

The game has a lot of problems. I wouldn't recommend it unless you are a pretty big hockey fan.

Well, it all depends on what kind of player you are. Online isn't bad I guess, it's pretty much like last year, with a better fight engine. Offline, meh. I would at least recommend to wait for the first (and probably only) patch, see what gets fixed and what doesn't, and re-evaluate then. Right now, there are a few things that aren't working properly, and could make your NHL experience a lot less enjoyable.

I really like the game but if you're not 100% sure I say wait until it hits the bargain bin. There are way too many big games coming out in the next couple of months.

Well I guess I would play some online, some offline. I'm not into the franchise part of it, but I want to learn more about it all. I wouldn't mind playing with the new wild jerseys, but yeah I may have to wait for it to get cheaper. Does it allow you to do a free skate in the specific teams arena?

I did not get it because of all the issues that still plague the game. It's so frustrating to see all of the threads & posts about the same ish that's been complained about for so long. EA must have selective hearing since they claim to listen to the community. The tweaks that were made is not worth $65 IMO so I can wait for a BIG price drop.

Well, if my memory serves me correctly, Minny's new jersey (the away one) isn't in the game yet. It has to be unlocked with a code, which we don't currently have, and won't get until all the teams have reveal their new jerseys. So I guess you can wait.

And I don't know how long it's been since you've played the game, but the NHL series isn't really known for its 'authentic' arenas. So if that's a big selling point for you, maybe you should keep your money for other titles.

Depends what you play. As I have found year after year (since NHL 10 anyway), there are incremental advances on the ice (and this year better fighting; sort of), but the BeAGM mode (all I play) has almost no meaningful improvement in years. I can't recommend buying this if all you play is BeAGM and you already have 13.

EASHL/Club online is addictive, 90% of the reason I buy the game. The other 10% is HUT, which is much cooler with the addition of the Seasons thing.

I started another thread very similar to this. I'm feeling the same way. I'm very much leaning towards not getting it.

I already liked the gameplay. So its hard to sell me on improving that.

But I can't believe presentation is exactly the same (from what I've read). So its basically the same game with better fighting. Since I only like Season mode.

As someon who hasnt had a newer version since NHL 11 i compared the demo and 11 and i saw a big difference. picked it up and love it yea i wish the progression was fixed but the game overall is alot of fun. I picked up GTA 5 tues and i still put this game in to play a game or 2 then go back to the madness in GTA
