Re: TNK - NHL15 SLIDERS (15 minute / All Star)

TNK - BOSTON BRUINS FRANCHISE

Game #15 of The Season - Edmonton Oilers (6-5-1) @ Boston Bruins (8-4-2)

* The Edmonton Oilers out-skated and out-played the Bruins in this game but Tuukka Rask was outstanding in the Boston net and the Bruins were able to capitalize in a few of their chances to come away with a 4-1 victory despite being out-shot by a 41-30 margin.

* Tuukka Rask was the story in this one as he played his best game of the season and was 2 minutes away from a shutout when Edmonton got a powerplay goal to make it a 3-1 game. Rask made several big saves in this game as he stopped the first 35 shots he saw from the Oilers and finished the game 40 saves on 41 shots.

* David Krejci & Patrice Bergeron each scored their 7th goals of the season

* Adam McQuaid was injured in the 2nd period period when he blocked a shot off his foot but was able to tough it out and remain in the game. McQuaid is expected to miss a few days but the Bruins have 3 days off before their next game and McQuaid should be ready to go.

* The Bruins will get Brad Marchand will return to the lineup. Marchand has played in just 4 of the Bruins 15 games on the season and will take his place on the 2nd line with Bergeron & Smith. Simon Gagne will be the healthy scratch.

* The Bruins will remain at home for their next game as they wrap up this 4 game home stand against the New Jersey Devils. This should be a great game as both teams are off to strong starts to their seasons as the Devils come in with a 9-4-1 record to face the Bruins who are currently 9-4-2 on the season.

Re: TNK - NHL15 SLIDERS (15 minute / All Star)

TNK - BOSTON BRUINS FRANCHISE

Game #16 of The Season - New Jersey Devils (9-4-1) @ Boston Bruins (9-4-2)

The Bruins and Devils face off in a battle between two Eastern Conference teams who have each gotten off to strong starts to the season with nearly identical records. The Devils scored quickly as Ryan Clowe tucked home a wrap around just 2:58 in to the game to make it 1-0. The Bruins came back late in the period when Carl Soderberg has a stretch where he took over the game as he set up Loui Eriksson on the door step to tie the game at 1-1 and then Soderberg would redirect a point shot from Seidenberg a few minutes later to put Boston on top by a score of 2-1. New Jersey would tie the game at 2-2 with 3:33 remaining in the 1st period on an unassisted goal by Adam Henrique who picked Tory Krug's pocket behind the net and banked the puck in off the back of Rask's leg. The 2nd period was dominated by the Devils as they out shot the Bruins 20-6 in the period but Tuukka Rask was tremendous as he made several highlight reel saves and single handedly kept the Bruins in the game as we would go to the 3rd period tied at 2-2 and primed for an exciting finish to this game. The Devils had a great chance to take the lead about 5:00 in to the 3rd period when Jagr walked in alone on a breakaway but Rask robbed him to keep the score tied 2-2. The Bruins were being outplayed as we passed the 10:00 mark of the period and New Jersey would go on the PP with 9:00 remaining after a slashing call on Chris Kelly. Boston's PK unit did a good job to kill it off as Rask stopped the only quality chance of the powerplay. Kelly stepped out of the penalty box as the Bruins were bringing the puck up ice and joined the play as they got possession down low and the puck found it's way to David Krejci whose initial shot was stopped by Schneider but Krejci was able to poke the rebound home for a huge goal to give the Bruins a 3-2 lead with 6:32 remaining. The Devils would go back on the powerplay with just over 3:00 remaining and Tuomo Ruutu banged home a rebound to tie the game at 3-3 with 2:31 left to play as the Bruins blow another lead late in the 3rd period and the game would head to overtime tied 3-3. The Devils would win it in OT as they came in on a 3-on-2 rush and Travis Zajac beat Rask upstairs with a laser of a wrist shot to give the Devils a thrilling 4-3 OT victory

* The Bruins continue to blow leads by giving up goals late in the 3rd period in what has become an alarming trend as they had a 3-2 lead with under 3:00 to play and wind up losing 4-3 in OT in what was a fantastic game.

* Tuukka Rask was very good for Boston and is the main reason they even came away with a point in this game

* Carl Soderberg continues his great start to the season with a goal & assist giving him 4 goals & 10 assists for 14 points in 16 games. Soderberg is a free agent after the season and in line for a big pay day and the Bruins are expected to make a big effort to keep the big Swede in Boston long term.

* Brad Marchand returned to the Bruins lineup but looked rusty

* The 9-4-3 Bruins have a tough 2 game road trip in front of them as they will head north of the border to face Toronto and Montreal on back to back nights in what will be a big test for the team as Toronto is currently 9-5-1 on the year and Montreal is 9-7-0

Re: TNK - NHL15 SLIDERS (15 minute / All Star)

TNK - BOSTON BRUINS FRANCHISE

Game #17 of The Season - Boston Bruins (9-4-3) @ Toronto Maple Leafs (9-5-1)

The Bruins were out-shot by a 16-7 margin in the 1st period but made the most of their opportunities as they put 3 pucks past James Reimer and got solid goaltending from Tuukka Rask as Boston had a 3-1 lead after one period of play. The Bruins lost David Krejci to injury early in the 1st period and would have to finish the game without their 1st line center. The 2nd period was very physical and neither team was able to score as we would head to the 3rd period with Boston leading 3-1 and Toronto holding a 28-20 advantage in shots on goal. The Bruins did a good job to protect their 3-1 lead in the 3rd period and they would extend their lead to 4-1 with 6:51 remaining when Carl Soderberg scored on the powerplay for his 2nd goal of the night. Toronto would go on the powerplay less than a minute later and Brad Marchand would break loose down the wing and scored a beauty as he beat Reimer with a filthy move to the backhand for a short handed goal to make it 5-1 and put the game away. The Bruins would end up on another powerplay in the closing minutes and once again it was Carl Soderberg who scored as he ripped a wrist shot past Bernier who replaced Reimer for his 3rd goal of the night for a hat trick and the Bruins would win 6-1.

* The Bruins put together their most impressive win to this point in the season as they completely dominated play in a 6-1 drubbing of the Leafs in Toronto.

* Carl Soderberg continues to dominate and be the Bruins best player early in the season as he scored 3 goals for his 1st career hat trick. Soderberg now has 7 goals to go along with 10 assists on the season for a team leading 17 points in 17 games.

* Tuukka Rask looks to be getting in to a groove as the reigning Vezina trophy winner stopped 36 of 37 shots in the victory.
.
* The Bruins lost leading goal scorer David Krejci (8 goals) to injury early in the 1st period after a big hit from Dion Phaneuf. Krejci is expected to miss about a week with an inured neck.

* Simon Gagne will return to the lineup for tomorrow nights game and skate on the 4th line with Campbell & Paille while Chris Kelly will slide up to center the 1st line with Lucic & Griffith in krejci's absence

* The Bruins (10-4-5) will be right back in action tomorrow night as they wrap up this brief 2 game Canada swing with a tough matchup against their arch rival the Montreal Canadiens (9-7-0) at the Bell Centre in Montreal. The Bruins will have their work cut out for them as they will be without Krejci and will be playing their 2nd game in as many nights on the road against a Canadiens team who is tough at home and coming off a couple days of rest.

Re: TNK - NHL15 SLIDERS (15 minute / All Star)

TNK - BOSTON BRUINS FRANCHISE

Game #18 of The Season - Boston Bruins (10-4-3) @ Montreal Canadiens (9-7-0)

The Bruins look to sweep their two game road trip to Canada after last nights 6-1 victory in Toronto as the Bruins swing in to Montreal for a big game with the Canadiens. There was no scoring in the 1st period as Svedberg and Price were both sharp in the nets and both teams were playing strong in their defensive structures to limit quality chances. The Bruins came out and scored a quick goal just 48 seconds in to the 2nd period on a delayed penalty call against Montreal when Matt Fraser slid the puck to the red hot Carl Soderberg who beat Price with a wrist shot to give Boston a 1-0 lead. The Bruins delayed penalty call was a boarding major against Max Pacioretty who received a game misconduct and the Bruins would have a big opportunity to take the game over and extend the lead on the 5 minute powerplay. Montreal did a great job on the penalty kill to keep it a 1-0 game and they would tie the game up right away after the kill when Tomas Plekanec redirected a slap shot from the point past Svedberg to tie the game at 1-1. The Canadiens made it two unanswered goals late in the period when Lars Eller put home a rebound with 5:37 left in the 2nd period to give Montreal a 2-1 lead. Carey Price was under siege as the 2nd period came to an end as Boston put a barrage of shots on net but couldn't tie things up and the 2nd period would end with the Bruins trailing 2-1 despite out-shooting the Canadiens 30-13. The Bruins carried their strong play in to the 3rd period and Seth Griffith beat Price with a wrist shot just 0:35 in to the period to knot things up at 2-2 with 19:25 remaining. The score would remain tied 2-2 and Boston would go on their 6th powerplay of the night with 11:19 remaining but the Canadiens would kill it off to keep the score tied. Both teams were doing a great job defensively as neither team was able to generate many quality chances as the clock ticked down to the final minutes of regulation. The Bruins were buzzing the Montreal net in the final minute but couldn't get the puck past Price and this game was headed to overtime. The Bruins had the better chances in overtime but the score remained 2-2 and we would need a shootout to settle this one as Carey Price stopped 48 of 50 shots. Brandon Prust scored in the shootout and then Price stopped all 3 Bruins shooters in the as the Canadiens win this one 3-2 in the shootout.....WHAT A GAME!!!!

* The Bruins dominated the play in this game and out-shot the Canadiens 44-21 in regulation and the shots were 50-23 after the OT period but the score was tied 2-2. Montreal would win it in the shootout but the Bruins should feel pretty good as they were clearly the better team despite missing David Krejci but Boston just ran in to a red hot goalie in Carey Price.

* Carey Price had one of the best games of his career as he put the Canadiens on his back and single handedly earned his team 2 points as he stopped 48 of 50 shots and then turned away all 3 Boston shooters in the shooutout.

* Carl Soderberg remains red hot as he scored in the 1st period and has 5 goals & 1 assist in his last 3 games.

* Niklas Svedberg got the start in place of Tuukka Rask for Boston and played well stopping 21 of 23 shots

* The Bruins will return home to Boston for their next game to face the Carolina Hurricanes

Re: TNK - NHL15 SLIDERS (15 minute / All Star)

TNK - BOSTON BRUINS FRANCHISE

Game #19 of The Season - Carolina Hurricanes (9-6-0) @ Boston Bruins (10-4-4)

The Bruins had 4 powerplay chances in the 1st period but could not score on the man advantage as Anton Khudobin was stopping everything the Bruins threw at the Carolina net. Boston would dominate the 1st period and finally got one past Khudobin when Seth Griffith setup Milan Lucic on the goal mouth to give the Bruins a 1-0 lead with 1:18 remaining in the 1st period and we would go to the 1st intermission with Boston leading 1-0 and out-shooting the Hurricanes 18-6. The Hurricanes started to pick up their play and got a goal midway through the 2nd period off some hard work down low by Brad Malone who won the puck from McQuaid in a board battle and hit Jiri Tlusty in the slot who picked up his own rebound after Rask made the initial save and stuffed it home to tie the game 1-1 with 10:05 left in the period. Boston would take the lead back a few minutes later when Simon Gagne beat Khudobin with a wrist shot to give the Bruins a 2-1 lead. Carolina answered with just over 2 minutes remaining in the period though when Elias Lindholm finished off a nice pass from Sekera to tie the game at 2-2. The 2nd period would come to an end with the Bruins out-shooting the Hurricanes 34-18 but the score was knotted up at 2-2 and the stage was set for what should be an interesting 3rd period. The score would remain 2-2 as we passed the half way point of the 3rd period mostly thanks to Tuukka Rask who made an incredible save lunging post to post to rob Jeff Skinner on a one timer early in the 3rd period. The Bruins would take a 3-2 lead with 8:58 to play when Simon Gagne finished off a gorgeous give and go with Campbell who laid a perfect saucer pass to Gagne cutting towards the net and Gagne was able to fake out Khudobin a fire the puck home for the go ahead goal. Boston carried the momentum form the go ahead goal and extended their lead a few minutes later as they worked the puck around the offensive zone and Dougie Hamilton unleashed a rocket slap shot the point just under the cross bar that sent the water bottle flying in to the air to give the Bruins a 4-2 lead with 5:16 remaining. Milan Lucic would add an empty net goal in the final minute as the Bruins win 5-2

* The Bruins and Hurricanes were tied 2-2 with under 9:00 to play before the Bruins took over and scored 3 straight goals on their way to a 5-2 victory. Boston carried the play for much of the game as they out shot the Hurricanes by a 45-29 margin

* Milan Lucic had a pair of goals to give him 7 Goals on the season to go along with

* Simon Gagne had two goals for Boston giving him 7 on the year but he was injured late in the game and will miss a week or two with an elbow injury.

* The Bruins will get a look at one of their top prospects as they have recalled speedy Russian forward Alexander Khokhlachev from Providence of the AHL to replace Gagne in the lineup. Khokhlachev is only expected to play one game before being sent back to Providence as David Krejci should be returning to the Bruins lineup in the next few days.

* Tuukka Rask was solid in the Boston net making 27 saves in the winning effort

* The 1st place Bruins (11-4-4) will remain at home for their next game where they will face the surprisingly struggling St. Louis Blues (5-10-2) who came in to the season as a serious Stanley Cup contender.

Re: TNK - NHL15 SLIDERS (15 minute / All Star)

TNK - BOSTON BRUINS FRANCHISE

Game #20 of The Season - St. Louis Blues (5-10-2) @ Boston Bruins (11-4-4)

The 1st Period was evenly played for the most part with some great action that was scoreless until the Blues scored a pair of late goals from Alex Steen and Jaden Schwartz to take a 2-0 lead in to the locker room. St. Louis got a powerplay goal from David Backes early in the 2nd period as it was all Blues and they were completely dominating the Bruins in every facet of the game. Boston coach Claude Julien was forced to use his timeout in an effort to wake up his teams as the Blues were on another powerplay and the Bruins were looking lazy and sloppy. Backes would score his 2nd powerplay goal of the game midway through the period to make it 4-0 Blues and chase Tuukka Rask from the game as the Boston net minder was under siege and getting little help from his teammates. Niklas Svedberg would come in to the game to replace Rask with the hopes of possibly sparking his team to make a comeback. St. Louis absolutely dominated the 2nd period as they out-shot the Bruins 21-9 and would go to the intermission with a commanding 4-0 lead. The Bruins actually came out with a damn good effort in the 3rd period and out-shot the Blues 18-6 in the the 3rd but Brian Elliott refused to give the Bruins any chance of getting back in this game as he turned away everything the Bruins threw at him on his way to a 40 save shutout as the Blues win a big road game 4-0

* The Blues have been struggling this season but looked every bit like the powerhouse team were expected to be in this one as they come in to Boston and played a strong hockey game start to finish for a big 4-0 road victory that could be the game that gets the Blues back on track and jump starts their season after a 5-10-2 start to the season

* The Bruins played a very sloppy and undisciplined game as they could not stay out of the penalty box and had several defensive breakdowns.

* Tuukka Rask was removed from the game in the 2nd period at no fault of his own as he allowed 4 goals on 24 shots with his teammates taking dumb penalties and playing terrible defense in front of him. Niklas Svedberg came on in place of Rask and played well stopping all 14 shots he faced.

* Zdeno Chara was banged up in the 1st period and left the game with in injury but did return to finish the game. Chara's status after the game was unknown and he is listed as "pending evaluation"

* The Bruins will get David Krejci back for their next game as they travel to Columbus to face the Blue Jackets
