Armor & Swords "Regular Joe" Pro/All-Star Custom Sliders

Hello Hockey video game fans. I am going to say this right up front. This is my first foray into sharing my sliders with the NHL community, and I am a casual Hockey fan. What does "casual" mean? I follow the Florida Panthers, I am not a hockey addict. It is my 4th favorite sport to watch and follow (MLB, NFL/NCAAF, NBA, then NHL). I am by no means versed on hockey strategy, nor highly knowledgeable of the in's and out's of the game.

However. I have a decent working knowledge of how to play the game on the console. I do know what a realistic game should look and feel like. I have been playing the NHL series since NHL 94. I loved that game. I also loved NHL 2007, 2011 and 2013. I am a casual player in that I am looking to have a lot of fun first and foremost. I love checking, I love being able to lay out guys on the boards, I also love to be rewarded for moving the puck around and setting up plays. If your an expert or highly experienced NHL series player.....move on and look elsewhere for your slider fix. I have a good feeling this will not be the set for you. If you are a older gamer and looking for a fun set to use as a base and just enjoy playing the game for "what it is" then this may be a nice starting point for you.

A few things about how I approach the game.

1) I only play BeAGm and nothing else. So all my testing is done inside of my Florida Panthers BeAGm franchise.

2) I use auto aim as I want player ratings to determine the outcome on shots on goal.

3) I play to have fun. I love video game hockey more than actually watching real hockey. Kinda weird....but I just enjoy the game on the virtual platform. The fast pace, the scoring, the hitting...just is a lot of fun compared sometimes to the dump and chase grind of the regular season in the NHL. I love playoff hockey though IRL.....if you don't your not living. But the key word's for my settings are fun, fast paced, lot's of hitting, and not sweating the small stuff. Just have fun with the game and enjoy the depth of BeAGm mode and not worry about much.

The sliders are being developed for both Pro and All-Star. What usually has happened with me in past titles is by mid-season Pro becomes a little too easy and I always end up moving to All-Star and the sliders will work fine on both settings IMO(with maybe a tweak here or there). I do not use any visual aides, use authentic puck size, authentic rules (real icing not hybrid), authentic OT rules and maxed time scaling for everything. If you see one setting it is for both the CPU and HUM. I also let the the CPU handle my in-game strategy and line changes. Again this is a hybrid slider set for casual fans who want a decent simulation but are not savvay enough to handle everything nor have the stick skills of years past LOL

Just picked this game up....pretty sure I fit into the 'regular joe' mould.
Gonna give these a spin this evening...

I have never played NHL any other way (Started doing this on NHL 2007). It makes the game a lot more stress free and fun.

Can you post some results you've got with these? Like a box score.

Re: Armor & Swords "Regular Joe" Pro/All-Star Custom Sliders

Thanks for this good to see some gamers out there willing to admit the're not hardcore.

I really think you need to test this on All Star. All Star seems to be a lot harder this year, I played a few games on Pro and it was too easy but All Star was impossible, every loose puk fell to the other team and they just seemed so much quicker to react to everything, kept getting slotted by the one timer. Gave up after a few games when I was down by four goals at the end of the second. The All Star defense gives you nothing unless you got open which was very rare.

I'd suggest making another set of sliders for All Star or telling people to ramp up the AI difficulty if it gets too easy. Putting AI difficulty on max (on Pro) was a much better game experience for me anyway. I'm not a hardcore hockey fan (never played it) and like you enjoy the console game more than following any team in real life but have watched enough games to know what's realistic for casual gamers anyway.

Cheers.
