Re: TNK NHL 20 SLIDERS

TNK BOSTON BRUINS FRANCHISE

Game #43 of Season
Edmonton Oilers (23-17-3) @ Boston Bruins (28-12-2)

1st Period - The Oilers scored just 2:12 into the game when James Neal finished off a well executed odd man rush with Draisaitl and McDavid to give Edmonton a 1-0 lead. The shots were even 10-10 and the Oilers had a 1-0 lead after 20 minutes of play

2nd Period - The Bruins were carrying the play for much of the 2nd period but could not beat Mike Smith who turned away all 26 shots through the first two periods and the 2nd period would end with Edmonton leading 1-0 despite being out-shot by Boston 26-21 after 40 minutes

3rd Period - The Bruins entered the 3rd period trailing 1-0 with 20 minutes left to try and stage a comeback and they would finally get on the board 4:20 in to the period when Nordstrom took a pass from Lindholm down low and went back to the point to Clifton who slid the puck over to John Moore for a slap shot through a screen that Smith had trouble picking up and the puck would break through Smith and trickle in for a big goal to tie the score 1-1. The game was in the final 10 minutes of regulation with the score still tied 1-1 and the Oilers would take the lead when Leon Draisaitl poked the puck away from Kampfer a the Edmonton blue line creating a 2 on 0 rush the other way with Zach Kassian who passed back and forth with Draisaitl and beat Halak through the five hole to give the Oilers a 2-1 lead with 5:58 remaining. Boston answered when Clifton made a nice move in the neutral zone to get to the middle of the ice as he entered the offensive zone and left a drop pass to Bergeron who found Brad Marchand streaking to the far post for a beautiful goal to tie the game 2-2 with 3:03 remaining. The 3rd period would end with the score tied 2-2 and the game was headed to OT

OT Period - The Bruins had some early chances in OT but Mike Smith came up with a couple fantastic saves on scoring bids by Coyle and Debrusk. Edmonton almost won it with just over 2:00 left in OT when Draisaitl set up McDavid for a one timer that had Halak beat but his shot rang the post and stayed out. Boston would win it with 0:54 remaining in OT when Marchand and Bergeron were working the cycle game along the wall and Marchand would find John Moore sneaking back door and Moore snapped a shot past Smith for the game winner to give the Bruins a 3-2 OT victory

* The Bruins and Oilers went toe to toe in a battle of first place teams and Boston would win a thriller 3-2 in OT

* The Bruins improve to 29-12-2 while Edmonton drops to 23-17-4 on the season

* John Moore continues to make a huge impact since joining the team as he scored a pair of goals including the OT game winner. Moore now has 3 goals & 2 assists for 5 points in 3 games since making his season debut

* Brad Marchand scored his 13th goal and added an assist for Boston

* Mike Smith was very good for Edmonton stopping 40 of 43 shots in the loss

* Jarsolav Halak gave the Bruins a solid performance as he stopped 29 of 31 shots

* Leon Draisaitl assisted on both Edmonton goals

* The Bruins will travel to Nashville to take on the Predators at Bridgestone Arena. The Predators are currently in 5th place in the loaded Central Division with a 23-13-5 record.

Re: TNK NHL 20 SLIDERS

TNK BOSTON BRUINS FRANCHISE

Game #44 of Season
Boston Bruins (29-12-2) @ Nashville Predators (23-13-5)

1st Period - The Bruins had their skating legs in the 1st period and put together a solid opening 20 minutes as they out-shot the Predators 13-7 in the period but there was no scoring as Pekka Rinne and Tuukka Rask were both sharp in their nets and the teams would go to the first intermission tied 0-0

2nd Period - Nashville came out buzzing to begin the 2nd period and had sustained pressure in the offensive zone for much of the period but Tuukka Rask was on his game in the Boston net and the score remained tied 0-0. Boston would score the games first goal when John Moore went back to retrieve the puck and hit Anders Bjork coming out of the zone with speed and Bjork would fly up the left wing and blow a slap shot past Rinne to give the Bruins a 1-0 lead with 4:08 to play in the period. The 2nd period would come to an end with the Bruins leading 1-0 and holding a 23-18 edge in shots

3rd Period - The Bruins were executing their game plan beautifully through two periods and began the 3rd period with a 1-0 and looking for a solid effort in the final 20 minutes. Nashville had the Bruins scrambling in their defensive end with a tenacious forecheck in the 3rd period but the score remained 0-0 as the clock ticked under 10:00 to play. The Predators forecheck pressure would produce a goal as Chara tried to chip the puck up the boards to clear the zone and his attempt was knocked down by Fabbro who fired a quick wrist shot from the point that was redirected past Rask by Colton Sissons to tie the score at 1-1 with 9:10 remaining. Nashville had to kill off a penalty by Tolvanen with just over 5:00 to play as Boston failed to convert on the PP and we were headed to an exciting finish as the clock wound down under 3:00 to play. The 3rd period would come to an end with the score tied 1-1 and the game would head to overtime

OT Period - The Bruins would score just 38 seconds in to OT as David Krejci picked up a loose puck in his defensive zone and passed it back to David Pastrnak who curled back to regroup and start up ice where he would enter the offensive zone and fire a pass to Krejci cutting towards the slot and Krejci snapped a quick shot beating Rinne for the OT game winner to give Boston a 2-1 win

* The Bruins and Predators battled to a hard fought 1-1 tie through 60 minutes and Boston would win the game 38 seconds into OT on a goal by David Krejci

* The Bruins earn their 30th win of the season improving to 30-12-2 while the Predators earn a point and go to 23-13-6 on the season

* David Krejci scored the OT game winner for his 8th goal of the season

* Tuukka Rask was excellent stopping 29 of 30 shots as he returned to form with a nice bounce back performance after allowing 11 goals in his previous 3 starts

* Pekka Rinne was outstanding in this game for Nashville as he stopped 35 of 37 shots in the tough luck loss

* Anders Bjork scored his 6th goal of the season and continues his strong play of late

* Patrice Bergeron was dinged up with a hamstring strain and will miss about a week. The Bruins are fortunate though as Sean Kuraly is set to return to the lineup in the next game. David Krejci will move up to the top line with Marchand and Pastrnak

* John Moore will sit the Bruins next game as he just needs a couple days off for a stiff neck. Matt Grzelcyk is set to return from a mild concussion that caused him to miss the past few games and will step back into the lineup

* The Bruins return back home to TD Garden for their next game and it's a big one as the Bruins will host the Winnipeg Jets in a showdown between the teams with the top two records in the NHL. The have the best record in the Eastern Conference at 30-12-2 while the Jets have the best record in the Western Conference at 32-10-2

TNK BOSTON BRUINS FRANCHISE

Game #45 of Season
Winnipeg Jets (32-10-2) @ Boston Bruins (30-12-2)

The top two teams in the NHL square off in a showdown between the Bruins who have the best record in the Eastern Conference at 30-12-2 will host the Jets who have the best record in the Western Conference at 32-10-2. The game will feature goaltending battle between two of the leagues top goalies as Winnipeg will have Connor Hellebuyck in net (1.97 GAA with .936 Sv%) while Boston will counter with Tuukka Rask (2.26 GAA with .926 Sv%)

1st Period - The Bruins and Jets played a pretty even 1st period with some very physical play as each team recorded 10 hits in the opening period. The score remained tied 0-0 until the final minute of the period when Danton Heinen put a low hard shot on net through a screen from the top of the circles that Hellebuyck stopped but Charlie Coyle was able to out muscle his man to gather the rebound and roof it over Hellebuyck on his backhand to give Boston a 1-0 lead with 0:18 left in the period. The Bruins took a 1-0 lead into intermission and the shots were 13-10 in favor of Boston after 20 minutes of play

2nd Period - Winnipeg had a long 5 on 3 powerplay for 1:42 midway through the period but failed to convert as Rask made some tough saves in the Boston net and the Bruins penalty killers did the . The Jets could not cash in on another PP opportunity a couple minutes later and the score remained 1-0. Boston would get their first PP try of the game late in the period and they would cash in on the man advantage as they worked the puck around and David Pastrnak would fire a slap shot that broke through Hellebuyck to push the Bruins lead to 2-0 with 4:48 remaining in the period. Boston extended the lead to 3-0 when Connor Clifton made a great play to walk the puck down the wall from the blue line and skated behind the Winnipeg net where he found Par Lindholm at the post for his 1st goal of the season with 1:28 left in the period. The 2nd period would end with Boston leading 3-0 and the shots even at 24-24

3rd Period - The Bruins made it 4-0 just under 5:00 in to the 3rd period when Brad Marchand took a pass from Pastrnak and snapped a shot off the post and in and that would chase Hellebuyck from the game as Winnipeg makes a goalie change to Laurent Brossoit. The Jets would respond to the goalie change as they got on the board a couple minutes later when mark Letestu scored on a one timer to make it 4-1 with 12:53 left. The game would get chippy late and Anders Bjork went down the tunnel after a huge hit from Pionk with under 7:00 to play. The Bruins would add another goal when Brett Ritchie put snapped home a rebound making it 5-1 with 3:03 left. The game would come to an end as the Bruins deliver a statement win 5-1

* The Bruins make a statement as they beat the Jets who have the best record in the NHL by a score of 5-1 at TD Garden without the services of Patrice Bergeron who was injured in the last game

* The Bruins improve to 31-12-2 while the Jets drop to 32-11-2 on the season

* Tuukka Rask was outstanding for Boston as he stopped 32 of 33 shots in the win

* Connor Hellebuyck allowed 4 goals on 26 shots before being lifted for Laurent Brossoit who stopped 8 of 9 shots that he faced for Winnipeg

* David Pastrnak scored his 7th goal and added an assist while Jake Debrusk picked up 2 assists for Boston

* The Bruins also got goals from Coyle (8th), Lindholm (1st), Marchand (14th) and Ritchie (6th)

* Anders Bjork suffered a fractured jaw and will miss a couple weeks of action for Boston. David Backes will be re-inserted into the lineup to take Bjork place on the 3rd line. John Moore will also return in the next game after missing the last two games and Steven Kampfer will be the healthy scratch coming out of the lineup

* The Bruins will head out on a 3 game road trip beginning with a trip to Barclays Center in Brooklyn to take on the New York Islanders who have struggled to a disappointing 14-21-7 record as they are currently in 7th place in the Metropolitan Division

Re: TNK NHL 20 SLIDERS

TNK BOSTON BRUINS FRANCHISE

Game #46 of Season
Boston Bruins (31-12-2) @ New York Islanders (14-21-7)

1st Period - The Islanders scored just 25 seconds into the game as they came out flying on the opening shift putting a flurry of shots on Rask right away and Josh bailey would score to give New York a 1-0 lead. The Islanders were all over the Bruins for much of the period and had a 10-7 shots advantage after one period

2nd Period - The Bruins were carrying play early in the period but could not put the puck past Greiss and New York would extend their lead when Beauvillier came in hard on the forecheck to create a turnover as the puck bounced right out front where Bailey was there to snap a quick shot past Rask for his 2nd goal of the game making it 2-0 with 12:53 to play in the period. The Bruins responded and dominated the remainder of the period and had long stretches of heavy pressure but could not score as Greiss was locked in and the 2nd period would come to an end with the Islanders leading 2-0 despite being out-shot 25-17

3rd Period - The Bruins killed off an early Islanders PP and dominated play early in the 3rd period but the score remained 2-0 as the clock ticked under 10:00 to play. Boston failed to convert on a PP opportunity with just over 7:00 left and they would get Rask off for the extra attacker with 1:25 to play and Anders Lee would put the game away with an empty net goal as the Islanders beat the Bruins 3-0

* The Bruins suffer a major letdown coming off the big win over Winnipeg as they fall to the Islanders 3-0 at Barclays Center

* The Bruins fall to 31-13-2 on the season while the Islanders hope this is the type of win that can spark a turnaround to their season as they improve to 15-21-7

* Thomas Greiss was outstanding for NY as he delivers a 40 save shutout in the win

* Josh bailey scored 2 goals for NY and now has 15 goals on the season

* Anders Lee scored his 15th goal of the season and added an assist

* Tuukka Rask stopped 20 of 22 shots in the loss for Boston

* The Bruins continue this 3 game road trip with a big game in Philadelphia where they will take on the Flyers in a battle of top two teams in the Eastern Conference at Wells Fargo Center. The Flyers are currently 26-12-7 on the season and lead the Metropolitan Division by 1 point over the Capitals

TNK BOSTON BRUINS FRANCHISE

Game #47 of Season
Boston Bruins (31-13-2) @ Philadelphia Flyers (26-12-7)

1st Period - The Bruins and Flyers played a physical 1st period with both teams playing well defensively and limiting the scoring chances as the 1st period concluded with no scoring and the shots were even at 8-8 after 20 minutes

2nd Period - The Bruins got on the board early in the 2nd period when Brad Marchand took a pass from Pastrnak on the rush and picked the top corner glove side on Hart to give Boston a 1-0 lead. The score stayed 1-0 until late in the period when Boston exploded for 3 goals in a 6 minute stretch from Danton Heinen, Charlie Coyle and Torey Krug to blow the game open as the Bruins score 4 goals in the period to take a 4-0 lead into the 2nd intermission. The shots were 22-17 in favor of Boston after 40 minutes

3rd Period - The Flyers made a push early in the 3rd period to try and claw their way back in the game but Halak made a few big stops to keep it a 4-0 game a not allow Philadelphia to build any momentum. The Bruins started to clamp down defensively and were content to just chip pucks in and bleed clock as time would continue to tick away. There was no scoring in the 3rd period and the Bruins would go on to a big 4-0 win in Philly

* The Bruins bounce back from their disappointing loss to the Islanders with an impressive 4-0 win over the Flyers at Wells Fargo Center behind a 4 goal outburst in the 2nd period which was all the scoring in this game

* The Bruins improve to 32-13-2 on the season while the Flyers fall to 26-13-7

* Jaroslav Halak got the start to give Tuukka Rask the night off with the Bruins set to play back to back nights as Rask will get the start tomorrow in Columbus and Halak stopped all 29 shots to earn the shutout

* Carter Hart allowed 4 goals in the 2nd period stopping 26 of 30 shots in the loss for Philly

* Charlie Coyle and Danton Heinen each scored a goal and added an assist for Boston. Heinen broke a goal scoring drought for his 18th goal as he had cooled off after his incredible start to the season and Coyle scored his 9th of the season and

* Brad Marchand scored his 15th goal of the season for Boston

* Patrice Bergeron has been cleared to return to the lineup but the Bruins will keep him out of tomorrows game and give him the extra rest as they will take the cautious approach and wait until they return home from the road trip

* The Bruins will wrap up this 3 game road trip against the Columbus Blue Jackets at Nationwide Arena tomorrow night. The Blue Jackets are in 6th place in the Metropolitan Division with a record of 19-23-4

TNK BOSTON BRUINS FRANCHISE

Game #48 of Season
Boston Bruins (32-13-2) @ Columbus Blue Jackets (19-23-4)

1st Period - The Bruins opened the scoring early in the 1st period when Krejci won an offensive zone draw back to Zdeno Chara who wound up and blasted a slap shot past Korpisalo to give Boston a 1-0 lead 4:26 into the game. The Blue Jackets responded and had a long stretch where they dominated play leading to several scoring chances but Rask was sharp in the Boston net. The Bruins were on the PP late in the period and Jake Debrusk curled off the half wall and snapped a rocket top corner to make it 2-0. Columbus got a huge goal from Gustav Nyquist in the final minute of the period and the 1st period would end with Boston leading 2-1 and Columbus had a 15-13 shots advantage

2nd Period - The Bruins would extend their lead when David Pastrnak finished off a nice passing play by Krug and Krejci to make it 3-1 with 12:46 to play in the period. Boston was in full control as the clock wound down to the final 5:00 of the period and Columbus would come down the ice on an odd man rush that Charlie McAvoy played perfectly as he went to the ice to block a shot by Nyquist but the puck took a funny bounce off the shoulder of McAvoy and went right up under the crossbar for a Nyquist second goal of the game cutting the Bruins lead to 3-2 with 4:30 to play in the period. The Bruins would get the goal right back as they went on the PP and Jake Debrusk would score his second goal of the night to make ti 4-2 with 2:05 left in the period. The period would end with Boston leading 4-2 and out-shooting the Blue Jackets 26-23

3rd Period - Columbus was flying early in the 3rd period as they tried to cut into the Bruins lead but Rask came up with some tough saves when challenged and Boston was making smart safe plays to exit their zone and bleed clock when possible. The clock would tick under 10:00 to play with the Bruins doing a good job of protecting their lead. The Blue Jackets would pull Korpisalo for the extra man in the final minute of regulation and Jake Debrusk would complete the hat trick with an empty net goal to cap off a 5-2 Bruins win

* The Bruins put together a strong 60 minute effort on the road to beat the Blue jackets 5-2 at Nationwide Arena

* The Bruins improve to 33-13-2 while the Blue Jackets fall to 19-24-4 on the season

* Jake Debrusk registered a hat trick as he scored 3 goals for Boston tying him for the team lead with 18 goals on the season. Debrusk has been hot of late with 7 points in the last 4 games (3 goals & 4 ssists)

Re: TNK NHL 20 SLIDERS

TNK BOSTON BRUINS FRANCHISE

Game #49 of Season
Pittsburgh Penguins (23-17-6) @ Boston Bruins (33-13-2)

The Bruins and Penguins begin a home and home series at TD Garden with a battle of the backup goaltenders as Jaroslav Halak and Casey DeSmith get the start in net for their respective teams.

1st Period - Pittsburgh scored 1:42 into the game to take a 1-0 lead when a Kris Letang slap shot beat Halak who was screened and never saw the shot. Boston would answer with 7:13 left in the period when Charlie McAvoy took a pass from Krejci as he walked into the high slot and snapped a laser past DeSmith to tie the score 1-1. The Penguins out-shot the Bruins 10-9 in what was a pretty evenly played period and the teams would go to intermission tied 1-1

2nd Period - David Pastrnak scored off a nice feed from Marchand just 21 seconds into the 2nd period to give Boston a 2-1 lead but the Penguins responded on the ensuing shift when Nick Bjugstad undressed Halak on a breakaway to even the score 2-2 with 18:05 to play in the period. The Bruins took the lead when Brett Ritchie stuffed home a rebound midway through the period and the 2nd period would end with the Bruins leading 3-2 and out-shooting the Penguins 21-18 through 40 minutes

3rd Period -The Penguins would get the equalizer early in the 3rd period on a great shot by Patric Hornqvist as he took a pass from Kahun and sniped the top corner from a tough angle to tie the score at 3-3 with 15:30 remaining. Pittsburgh would score again just 33 seconds later when Bjugstad set up Alex Galchenyuk for a one timer that broke through Halak as the Penguins score two goals in 33 seconds to take a 4-3 lead with 14:57 remaining. The Bruins answered with 10:53 to play when Coyle won an offensive zone faceoff back to Torey Krug who blew a slap shot past DeSmith to tie the game up 4-4 and set the stage for what should be an exciting finish. The clock would win down to the final 5:00 of regulation with the score tied 4-4. The Penguins were skating through the neutral zone when Letang had the puck poked off his stick by Pastrnak for a turnover leading to a 2 on 1 odd man rush and John Moore would slide the puck over to Pastrnak who roofed the puck sending the water bottle flying for a huge goal to give the Bruins a 5-4 lead with 4:17 to play. Pittsburgh pulled DeSmith for the extra attacker with just over 1:00 remaining and Halak would make his biggest save of the game with 0:24 to play when he went post to post to deny Malkin on a one timer and freeze the puck. The Penguins would win the ensuing faceoff and were trying to get the tying goal when David Pastrnak was able to intercept a pass and would skate the puck to center ice and bury the empty net goal for his 3rd goal of the night to cap off a 6-4 Bruins win

* The Bruins and Penguins went toe to toe in a hard fought battle that had a playoff atmosphere as they traded goals throughout and there were 5 lead changes as Boston got a late goal from Pastrnak to snap a 4-4 tie and Pastrnak would also add an empty net goal to give the Bruins a 6-4 win

* The Bruins improve to 34-13-2 while Pittsburgh falls to 23-18-6

* David Pastrnak scored 3 goals to register a hat trick and give him 4 goals in the last two games. Pastrnak now has 11 goals and 22 points in 26 games on the season after missing 23 games with concussion symptoms earlier in the season

* Charlie McAvoy scored his 9th goal of the season and added an assist as McAvoy continues his phenomenal play on the Boston blue line

* Jaroslav Halak stopped 21 of 25 shots in the win for Boston

* Casey DeSmith allowed 5 goals on 32 shots for Pittsburgh

* Patrice Bergeron returned to the lineup for Boston and picked up an assist. The Bruins will get Anders Bjork back in the lineup in the next few days as he has been cleared to return but Boston will give him an extra day or two and will not dress him in the next game as this home and home series shifts to Pittsburgh.

* The Bruins and Penguins will travel to Pittsburgh for the back half of this home and home series at PPG Paints Arena with Boston looking to sweep the two game set. The starting goalies will return to their nets in Pittsburgh as Tuukka Rask will be in net for Boston while Pittsburgh is expected to go with Matt Murray
