TNK - Boston Bruins Franchise

Regular Season - Game #35
New Jersey Devils (17-16-3) @ Boston Bruins (24-6-4)

The Bruins return home to host the New Jersey Devils at TD Garden. The Devils are 5-4-1 over their last 10 games and currently sit in 6th place int he Metropolitan Division with a record 17-16-3. Jeremy Swayman will get the start in net for Boston and New Jersey will go with Mackenzie Blackwood in net

The Devils went on the games first PP when Bergeron was called for interference with under 14:00 left to play in the 1st period and New Jersey almost took the lead off the ensuing faceoff when Ty Smith wound up and fired a rocket that beat Swayman but rang off the post. The Devils had some good looks on the man advantage but failed to cash in as Boston returned to even strength and we approached the midway mark of the 1st period. Trent Frederic put a beating on Myles Wood after Wood took exception to Mike Reilly shooting after the whistle but Frederic appeared to injure his hand in the fight as he went down the tunnel and did not return. The Bruins got a spark from the fight as Brad Marchand opened the scoring when Boston gained possession off the ensuing faceoff and Marchand redirected a shot from Zboril past Blackwood to give the Bruins a 1-0 lead with 9:21 left in the period. The Devils responded with some good pressure but Boston would extend their lead when Erik Haula intercepted a pass by Siegenthaler and found Jake DeBrusk for his 10th goal of the season to make it 2-0 with 5:41 remaining in the period. New Jersey had a long 5 on 3 PP after penalties just 22 seconds apart by Bergeron and Carlo but Boston would survive thanks to some great work by Swayman and a little luck as both Jesper Bratt and Jack Hughes hit posts and the 1st period would come to an end with Boston leading 2-0 despite being out-shot 14-12. The Devils went back on the PP just 39 seconds into the 2ns period when Marchand was called for tripping and New Jersey would score just 15 seconds into the PP as Tomas Tatar fired a quick shot from the high slot beating Swayman to cut the Bruins lead to 2-1. The Devils were dominating play and went back to the PP with 12:24 left in the period as Craig Smith went to the box for interference after he took a run at Subban and then McAvoy would be called for tripping midway through the PK to give New Jersey a two man advantage and they would capitalize as Swayman denied Hughes in close but Pavel Zacha was able to score off the rebound tying the game 2-2 with 10:31 to play in the period. The Devils remained on the PP skating 5 on 4 and they would take the lead at the tail end off the PP with just seconds left on the man advantage as they worked the puck around and Tatar would beat Swayman from up top through a screen to give the Devils a 3-2 lead with 8:58 remaining in the period. The Bruins disastrous 2nd period continued as Marhand was called for slashing to put New Jersey back on another PP with 2:24 left in the period and the Devils would strike again on the PP as Swayman stopped a shot from Zacha and Jack Hughes would collect the rebound and score to make it 4 unanswered goals for the Devils as they take a 4-2 lead with 1:50 still remaining in the period. The 2nd period would mercifully come to an end as the Devils strike for 4 PP goals and New Jersey would head to the intermission with a commanding 4-2 lead and were out-shooting the Bruins 30-19 through 40 minutes. The Bruins were chewed out in the dressing room at the intermission after playing their worst period of the season as they head to the 3rd period trailing 4-2. Boston came out playing much better to start the 3rd period and they would make it a one goal game when Marchand deflected a point shot by Reilly that beat Blackwood on the change of direction to cut the Devils lead to 4-3 with 14:01 remaining. The Bruins were energized by the Marchand goal and started to control play and almost scored the equalizer but Blackwood made his biggest save of the night robbing Haula with a big glove save to keep it a 4-3 game as we reached the midway mark of the period and entered the final 10:00 of regulation with New Jersey leading 4-3. The Devils were clinging to a 4-3 lead when Charlie Coyle was called for holding to put New Jersey on the PP with a chance to put the game away with 6:52 remaining. The Devils were unable to cash in with the man advantage as they Bruins PK unit came up with a huge kill and Boston would return to even strength with under 5:00 to play in regulation. The clock continued to tick down to the final 2:00 of regulation with New Jersey clinging to a 4-3 lead and Swayman would head to the bench with under 1:00 to play to get the extra attacker on the ice for Boston. The Bruins had a great chance with 0:15 left when Bergeron got the puck in the slot but his shot rang off the post and stayed out and time would run out as the Devils hang on to beat the Bruins 4-3

NOTES
* The Bruins paid the price for a terrible 2nd period as they could not stay out of the penalty box and the Devils made them pay with 4 PP goals in the period as New Jersey would hang on the beat the Bruins 4-3

* The Bruins fall to 24-7-4 while the Devils improve to 18-16-3 on the season

* Tomas Tatar scored 2 goals for New Jersey bringing his total to 11 on the season while Pavel Zacha had a 3 point night with 1 goal (6) and 2 assists. Jack Hughes scored his 11th goal and added an assist while Dougie Hamilton and Nico Hischier each had 2 assists on the night

* Brad Marchand scored 2 goals for Boston bringing his team leading total to 20 goals on the season. Jake DeBrusk also scored for Boston giving him 10 goals on the season

* Jeremy Swayman was hung out to dry by his teammates in the 2nd period as he allowed all 4 of the New Jersey goals while Boston was shorthanded. Swayman would wind up stopping 33 of 37 shots in the game

* Mackenzie Blackwood was solid for New Jersey stopping 28 of 31 shots in the win

* Trent Frederic suffered a hand injry in a fight with Myles Wood and Frederic is expected to miss a week or so. Tomas Nosek will step into Frederic's spot on the 4th line

* The Bruins will remain at home to host the Minnesota Wild in their next game. The Wild are having a good first half as they are currently 22-12-2 and sitting in 3rd place in the Central Division which has been the strongest division in the league with 7 teams over .500.

Re: TNK NHL22 Sliders

TNK - Boston Bruins Franchise

Regular Season - Game #36
Minnesota Wild (22-12-2) @ Boston Bruins (24-7-4)

The Bruins look to bounce back from one of their sloppiest performances of the season as they welcome the Minnesota Wild to TD Garden for what should be a tough game. The Wild are tied for 3rd place in the loaded Central Division with a record of 22-12-2 on the season. The Bruins will go with Linus Ullmark in net while Minnesota will have Cam Talbot between the pipes for what should be a good game

The Bruins and Wild were both throwing their weight around and trying to set the tone physically and Nick Bjugstad was injured and went down the tunnel after he was laid out on a huge open ice hit by Nick Foligno. The intensity level continued to ramp up as Derek Forbort drilled Ryan Hartman in front of the benches which brought over Marcus Foligno for a spirited fight. The Bruins opened the scoring when Marchand knocked Brodin off the puck along the boards and Pastrnak would fire a beautiful cross ice pass to Patrice Bergeron whose shot trickled through Talbot to give Boston a 1-0 lead with 11:32 to play in the period. The Wild answered a couple minutes later on some great work down low by Greenway who protected the puck in the corner and set up Mats Zuccarello who fired a quick shot that beat Ullmark to tie the game 1-1 with 9:11 to play in the period. Minnesota went on a late PP opportunity and the 1st period would end with the score tied 1-1 and the shots 9-6 in favor of Minnesota. The Wild began the 2nd period on a PP that carried over from the 1st period and they would cash in as Greenway came out of the corner and found Joel Eriksson Ek in close and his shot would break through Ullmark and trickle into the net to give Minnesota a 2-1 lead just 1:10 into the 2nd period. The Wild would blow the game open a short while later when Frederick Gaudreau scored a pair of goals 29 seconds apart as he spun away from Pastrnak and surprised Ullmark with a quick release from the slot to make it 3-1 with 13:40 left and then got behind McAvoy by a step just 29 seconds later and beat Ullmark to make it 4-1. The Bruins were reeling as they now found themselves trailing 4-1 as we moved into the late stages of the period and started to pickup their play but Craig Smith failed to handle a pass from McAvoy in the defensive zone and Zuccarello would collect the loose puck and beat Ullmark to make it 5-1 with 7:24 still to play in the period. The Bruins implosion continued as the Wild extended their lead with 3:38 left in the period when Ullmark stopped a Zuccarello shot but Victor Rask would score on the rebound making it 6-1. The 2nd period would come to an end with the Bruins leaving the ice to a chorus of boos after the Wild score score 5 goals in the period and lead 6-1 after 40 minutes with a 24-19 edge in shots. The Bruins came out angry and played with great energy in the 3rd period but could not get the puck past Talbot despite a 17-8 shots advantage in the period heading into the final 5:00 of the game. The Wild would add one more goal in the closing minutes as Joel Eriksson Ek scored his 2nd goal of the night to make it 7-1 with 1:26 remaining. Patrice Bergeron would score his 2nd of the night for Boston in the closing seconds when he redirected a McAvoy shot past Talbot and the game would end with the final score 7-2

NOTES
* The Bruins fell apart in the 2nd period for the second straight game and suffer their worst loss of the season as they get embarrassed on home ice by the Wild who scored 5 goals in the 2nd period on their way to a 7-2 blowout victory over the Bruins

* The Atlantic Division leading Bruins are suddenly struggling going 2-3-1 over their last 6 games as they fall to 24-8-4 while the Wild improve to 23-12-2 on the season

* The Wild were led by Mats Zuccarello (2 Goals & 1 Assist), Frederick Gaudreau (2 Goals) and Joel Eriksson Ek (2 Goals) while Jordan Greenway had a 3 point night with 3 assists

* Patrice Bergeron scored his 13th & 14th goals of the season for Boston

* Cam Talbot stopped 36 of 38 shots in an excellent performance by the Minnesota goaltender

* Linus Ullmark recent stretch of shaky goaltending continues as he allows 7 goals on 37 shots

* The Bruins will make a couple of tweaks to the lineup as Anton Blidh returns from injury replacing Nosek on the 4th line and Connor Clifton will step into the lineup for Jakub Zboril on defense.

* The Bruins will look to get back on track as they hit the road for a 3 game road trip beginning in Tampa Bay where the Bruins will take on the Lightning at Amalie Arena. The Lightning are playing better of late after a slow start to the season as they are 6-3-1 over their last 10 games and are climbing the Atlantic Division standings with a record of 20-15-3 on the season.

TNK - Boston Bruins Franchise

Regular Season - Game #37
Boston Bruins (24-8-4) @ Tampa Bay Lightning (20-15-3)

The Bruins are coming off back to back losses including their worst loss of the season as they were blown out by the Minnesota Wild 7-2 on home ice at TD Garden. The Bruins now travel to Tampa Bay to begin a 3 game road trip against the two time defending Stanley Cup champs in what will be a measuring stick game to see how the Bruins respond to their recent struggles against the Lightning who are 20-15-3 on the season and rising up the Atlantic Division standings after a slow start to the season. The Bruins will go turn to Jeremy Swayman in net while Tampa Bay will have Andrei Vasilevskiy in net for what has become the most important game of the season for the Bruins as they try to snap out of their recent stretch of sloppy play

The Bruins did not get the start they were looking for as Tampa Bay scored 3:35 into the game when Connor Clifton lost possession along the boards and Alex Killorn played give and go with Corey Perry who scored to give the Lightning a 1-0 lead. Victor Hedman would go to the box for holding a few minutes later putting Boston on the PP and the Bruins would get some puck luck as David Pastrnak would go back to retrieve the puck after Tampa Bay cleared the puck down the ice and Pastrnak would skate it all the way weaving into the offensive zone and took the puck hard towards the net and the puck would bounce in off Erik Cernak with Pastrnak getting credit for a PP goal that tied the game 1-1 with 12:21 left in the period. The Lightning went on their first PP of the night late in the period and had a few quality chances but Swayman came up with some key saves and the Bruins would get back to even strength. The intensity and physicality was picking up as the opening period came to an end with the score tied 1-1 and the shots were 12-10 in favor of Tampa Bay after 20 minutes. The Bruins came out flying to start the 2nd period and were dominating play which led to Ryan McDonagh taking a tripping penalty and putting Boston on the PP just under 5:00 into the period. The Bruins only had a couple of good looks on the PP but Vasilevskiy came up big and made a great save to deny Coyle as he was sprawled out on the ice with a scrum of bodies in the crease and the lightning would get back to even strength with the score still tied 1-1. The Bruins were out-shooting the Lightning 14-0 in the period as we reached the midway mark of the period. Boston continued to carry the play and Vasilevskiy was standing on his head in the Tampa Bay net keeping it a 1-1 game. The Lightning would capitalize on a mistake by the Bruins as Karson Kuhlman made a bad decision and blindly passed the puck into the middle of the ice in the defensive zone where it was intercepted by Brayden Point who tapped the puck to Nikita Kucherov and he would finish the play with a beautiful deke beating Swayman to give the Lightning a 2-1 lead with 5:31 left in the period. The Bruins answered right back as Cernak took an interference penalty 33 seconds after the Kucherov goal and the Bruins needed just 7 seconds on the PP as Bergeron won the ensuing faceoff back to Charlie McAvoy who faked a slap shot and made a great play to skate the puck into the slot and beat Vasilevskiy with a move to his backhand to tie the game 2-2 with 4:51 remaining in the period. Vasilevskiy and Swayman each made big stops in the final minutes of the period and the 2nd period would end with the score even at 2-2 with Boston holding a 30-17 edge in shots after dominating most of the period. The teams would head to the 3rd period tied 2-2 with 20 minutes left to decide a winner in what should an exciting 3rd period. The Bruins would take the lead early in the 3rd period as a result of good defense as Forbort stepped in front of a rocket from Cernak for a blocked shot and Taylor Hall got in the way of a shooting opportunity for Palat and lifted his stick to break up the play before gathering the puck and racing up his off wing with speed to get around Hedman and slide a perfect pass across the slot to Charlie Coyle who scored on the one timer to give Boston a 3-2 lead with 17:23 remaining. The clock would wind down under 10:00 to play in regulation with the Bruins clinging to a 3-2 lead and Boston would go to the PP with under 8:00 to play as Cernak went to the box for slashing. Victor Hedman was called for holding 48 seconds later to put the Bruins on a 5 on 3 PP but the Lightning would come up with a big penalty kill and get back to even strength with just under 5:00 to play in regulation and Boston leading 3-2. The Bruins were doing an excellent job of defending and making smart and safe plays with the puck as they were content to chip pucks in deep and let the clock continue to tick away. Swayman made his biggest save of the night with just under 3:00 remaining as he flashed the pad out to deny Stamkos who fired a snap shot through a screen that Swayman didn't see until the last possible second. The clock ticked down under 2:00 to play in regulation and the Bruins got a great shift from the line of DeBrusk-Haula-Foligno as they worked the cycle down low in the Tampa Bay zone and chewed up a good 40 seconds by battling and protecting the puck in the corners and behind the Lightning net preventing Vasilevskiy from getting to the bench for the extra attacker. Vasilevskiy would finally get to the bench with 0:42 to play and Erik Haula would poke the puck away from Sergachev and put the game away with an empty net goal to finish off a big 4-2 win in Tampa for the Bruins

NOTES
* The Bruins bounce back with a hard fought 4-2 win in Tampa Bay as Charlie Coyle scored the game winner early in the 3rd period snapping a 2-2 tie and the Bruins played great defense down the stretch before Erik Haula scored an empty net goal in the closing seconds

* The Bruins improve to 25-8-4 while the Lightning fall to 20-16-3 on the season

* Jeremy Swayman stopped 24 of 26 shots in net for Boston while Andrei Vasilevskiy stopped 36 of 39 shots in the Tampa Bay net

* The Bruins got goals from David Pastrnak (10), Charlie McAvoy (3) and Charlie Coyle (9)

* The Lightning got goals from Corey Perry (12) and Nikita Kucherov (16)

* The Bruins will travel to Washington to face the Capitals at Capital One Arena in a big matchup between the top two teams in the Eastern Conference. The Atlantic Division leading Bruins are 25-8-4 on the season (54 points) while the Metropolitan Division leading Capitals are currently 26-13-1 on the season (53 points). Jeremy Swaymand and Ilya Samsonov are expected to get the starts in net in a showdown between two of the top young goalies in the NHL as Swayman has 18 wind with a 1.84 GAA and .925 Save% while Samsonov has 17 wins with a 2.66 GAA and .911 Save %

TNK - Boston Bruins Franchise

Regular Season - Game #38
Boston Bruins (25-8-4) @ Washington Capitals(26-13-1)

The Bruins are in Washington where they will take on the Capitals in a showdown at Capital One Arena between the top two teams in the Eastern Conference as the Bruins lead the Atlantic Division with a record of 25-8-4 on the season (54 points) while the Capitals lead the Metropolitan Division with a record of 26-13-1 on the season (53 points). Both teams come into this game pretty healthy with none of their key players missing and the game will feature a matchup of two of the top young goalies in the league as Jeremy Swayman gets the start in net for the Bruins while the Capitals will have Ilya Samsonov in net at the other end

The teams were feeling each other out in the opening minutes and trying to establish the physical tone with some heavy hits early on and Trent Frederic who was returning to the lineup after missing the last two games with an injury was called for interference on his first shift to put the Capitals on the PP 4:19 into the game. McAvoy was called for holding 37 seconds later to make it a 5 on 3 PP for Washington but they could not cash in as Swayman made a few stops and the Bruins PK unit did the rest. The Capitals went right back to the PP when Marchand was called for tripping with just under 13:00 left in the period and the Bruins would survive another PK as Swayman made big stops on Oshie and Ovechkin keeping it a scoreless game and Boston would return to even strength with 10:51 remaining in the period. The Bruins would generate a couple decent chances as the clock wound down into the final minutes of the period but Samsonov would deny DeBrusk and Haula to keep the game scoreless. Boston would go on their first PP of the night when Tom Wilson was called for interference as he took a run at Bergeron with 0:42 left and the 1st period would come to an end with the score tied 0-0 and the shots 10-8 in favor of Boston. The Bruins began the 2nd period with 1:18 of PP time carrying over on the penalty to Wilson and they would open the scoring when Pastrnak retrieved the puck after Washington cleared it down the ice and Pastrnak would pass to Craig Smith who entered the offensive zone and slammed on the brakes and found Jake DeBrusk in the high slot and his shot would be tipped past Samsonov by Smith who went right to the net after making the pass for a PP goal just as time was expiring on the Wilson penalty giving Boston a 1-0 lead 1:18 into the 2nd period. Alex Ovechkin was called for tripping to put Boston back on the PP with 13:53 left in the period but the Bruins failed to convert on the man advantage and the score remained 1-0 as we approached the midway mark of the period. Washington went to the PP with 9:53 left when Anton Blidh was called for interference and the Capitals were unable to score despite some good looks on the PP as Swayman continues his strong play in the Boston net. Derek Forbort laid a huge hit on Tom Wilson that sent him slowly to the bench holding his head with under 7:00 left in the period but Wilson would remain in the game. The score remained 1-0 as the clock wound down in the 2nd period and Washington would possess the puck in the offensive zone as they had heavy pressure in the final minute of the period but Swayman would make a big save on Mantha in the closing seconds and Taylor Hall was called for tripping as the period ended with Boston leading 1-0 and holding a 24-17 edge in shots. The teams would head to the 3rd period with 20 minutes left to decide a winner in what has been a hard fought battle with a playoff-like feel and the Capitals would begin the 3rd period with a man advantage as Hall would begin serving his penalty from the conclusion of the 2nd period. Washington got set up on the PP in the offensive zone and moved the puck around nicely to create shooting lanes which led to a number of chances but Swayman would make his biggest saves of the night denying Carlson and Ovechkin in succession and Boston would survive the PK and return to even strength. The Capitals continued to attack forcing the Bruins to scramble a bit a and they would ice the puck to relieve pressure with just under 17:00 left. Mike Reilly was called for slashing to put the Capitals right back on the PP with 16:14 remaining and this time Washington would cash in on the PP as they moved the puck around nicely and Justin Schultz would get the puck in the high slot and beat Swayman with a shot right under the crossbar for his 1st goal of the season tying the game 1-1 with 14:37 left in regulation. The Bruins responded with a string of shifts where they had sustained pressure leading to a tripping penalty by Lars Eller that put Boston on the PP with 10:42 remaining in regulation. The Bruins could not get the puck past Samsonov on the man advantage and Washington returned to even strength with the score tied 1-1 and under 9:00 to play. The Capitals would go on the PP as Reilly took a tripping penalty with 7:13 left and Washington would score the go ahead goal as Anthony Mantha made a great play to keep the puck in the zone and played it to Lars Eller who showed patience to wait for a screen and snapped a rocket past Swayman from the top of the circle that sent the water bottle flying for a PP goal to give the Capitals a 2-1 lead with 6:31 left to play in regulation. The Bruins found themselves trailing 2-1 and the clock would tick under 5:00 to play in regulation as TJ Oshie would trip Marchand with 4:46 remaining to give Boston a huge PP opportunity. Marchand would draw another penalty as Orlov would drill Marchand from behind for a boarding penalty 30 seconds later to give the Bruins a two man advantage. Boston went to work on the 5 on 3 PP and Samsonov made a nice save on a McAvoy slap shot but Boston would regain possession and Pastrnak would play the puck down low to Marchand who curled away from Carlson and beat Samsonov with a wrist shot to tie the game at 2-2 with 3:37 left to play. The Capitals would get a man back and Boston still had over a minute of PP time to work with but they could not convert and Washington would get back to even strength with just over 2:00 to play. The Bruins were all over the Capitals in the final minutes and Samsonov would freeze the puck for a faceoff with 0:37 remaining but the clock would wind down to zeroes as the 3rd period would conclude with the score tied 2-2 after 60 minutes of action with the shots 46-27 in favor of Boston and we would head to overtime. The Bruins and Capitals would begin OT skating 3 on 3 and Boston had an early chance as Bergeron set up Marchand point blank and he rang the post. Taylor Hall took a tripping penalty to put Washington on a 4 on 3 PP with 3:31 left in OT. The Capitals would win it as TJ Oshie picked the pocket of McAvoy at one end and turned the puck up ice the other way where he would pass to Justin Schultz who did a great job to protect the puck and maintain possession before beating Swayman glove side with a snap shot to give the Capitals a 3-2 OT victory

NOTES
* The Bruins and Capitals were tied 2-2 at the end of regulation before Justin Schultz scored his 2nd goal of the game midway through OT to give Washington a thrilling 3-2 victory in a game that had playoff intensity.

EA - whatever the current one was back when I started my franchise with a few edits......it was before the Eichel trade unfortunately. I wish you could manually control/trade for the CPU teams in a situation like this

I'm too far in at this point and enjoying the heck out of my season/franchise to start over just to facilitate Eichel going to Vegas

TNK - Boston Bruins Franchise

Regular Season - Game #39
Boston Bruins (25-8-5) @ Montreal Canadiens (16-24-2)

The Bruins are 1-0-1 on the road trip which wraps up in Montreal where they will face their long time rivals the Montreal Canadiens at Centre Bell. The Canadiens have struggled to a 16-24-2 record after reaching the Stanley Cup Finals last season and are currently in 7th place in the Atlantic Division sitting 21 points behind the 1st place Bruins. Linus Ullmark looks to get back on track after a dreadful performance in his last appearance where the Wild lit him up for 7 goals while Carey Price gets the start in net for Montreal

The Bruins and Canadiens played a fairly even 1st period with neither team controlling play in the opening 20 minutes of action. Boston had to kill off 3 Montreal PP opportunities in the 1st period but still out-shot the Canadiens 10-7 in the period as both Linus Ullmark and Carey Price were solid in the period and the teams would head to the 1st intermission tied 0-0. The Bruins had an early PP a few minutes into the 2nd period but failed to convert before Montreal went on back to back PP midway through the period and would open the scoring on the second PP when they moved the puck around and Jonathan Drouin would tip a Caufield shot on its way in and the puck would get past Ullmark on the change of direction to give the Canadiens a 1-0 lead with 8:34 left in the period. Montreal went back to the PP late in the period when Pastrnak was called for tripping and Ullmark made a great pad save to deny Dvorak on the doorstep but could not recover and dive across the crease in time to stop Josh Anderson who scored off the rebound to extend the lead to 2-0 with 3:31 remaining in the period. Shea Weber drilled Curtis Lazar with a perfectly timed hip check along the boards in the final minute of the period sending Lazar limping back to the bench with an apparent injury and the 2nd period would come to an end with Montreal leading 2-0 on a pair of PP goals and the shots were even after 40 minutes of play at 21-21. The Bruins were going to need a strong effort in the final 20 minutes as they head to the 3rd period trailing 2-0 and they got the start they were looking for just 1:06 into the period as they had pressure in the offensive zone and Marchand stole the puck from Toffoli along the wall and passed to Forbort up top who fired a shot from the point that Pastrnak tipped on the way in beating Carey Price to cut the deficit to 2-1 with 18:54 remaining. The Bruins started to control play and had a couple of chances to tie the game with just under 13:00 to play but Price came up big as he denied Marchand with the pad and exploded across the crease to get in position and rob Bergeron on the rebound keeping it a 2-1 game. The clock ticked down to the final 10:00 of regulation with Montreal leading 2-1 and Price would make his best save of the night with just over 7:00 remaining when Bergeron slid a cross ice pass to Pastrnak who fired a one timer but Price tracked it perfectly and made a beautiful glove save to keep it a 2-1 game. The Bruins were dominating play and they would get the equalizer as they gained possession in the neutral zone and transitioned it to offense quickly as Bergeron gained the blue line and passed back to Grzelcyk who moved the puck quickly to Brandon Carlo and he would beat Price with a great shot from the high slot tying the game 2-2 with 6:35 left to play. The stage was set for what should be a thrilling finish to what has been a great game as the Bruins and Canadiens were tied 2-2 late in the 3rd period and Montreal would go to the PP when Carlo was called for tripping with 5:40 remaining. The Canadiens could not take advantage of the opportunity as they failed to register a single shot on the PP and Boston would get back to even strength with 3:40 left in regulation. The Bruins got a huge go ahead goal when Brendan Gallagher had the puck knocked off his stick at the Boston blue line by Carlo and Jake DeBrusk would gather the loose puck with speed as he flew down the left wing and took the puck towards the net before sliding a pass across the slot to Erik Haula who scored to give Boston a 3-2 lead with 1:52 remaining. The Canadiens would get Price to the bench for the extra attacker in the final minute and would come up the ice for one last rush as they entered the offensive zone with 10 seconds remaining and had an excellent chance as Weber got a clean look but Ullmark made a blocker save and then absolutely robbed Anderson with the pad on the rebound as the puck went into the corner and time would run out as the Bruins hang on for a heart pounding 3-2 win in Montreal

NOTES
* The Bruins score 3 unanswered goals in the 3rd period to come from 2-0 down and earn a 3-2 come from behind victory

* The Bruins improve to 26-8-5 while the Canadiens fall to 16-25-2 on the season

* The Bruins goals were scored by David Pastrnak (11), Brandon Carlo (2) and Erik Haula (10)

* The Canadiens goals were scored by Jonathan Drouin (7) and Josh Anderson (12)

* Linus Ullmark stopped 24 of 26 shots for Boston while Carey Price stopped 34 of 37 shots in the Montreal net

* The Bruins will be back in action tomorrow night as they return home to Boston to host the Philadelphia Flyers at TD Garden. The Flyers are currently in 5th place in the Metropolitan Division with a record of 20-16-3

TNK - Boston Bruins Franchise

Regular Season - Game #40
Philadelphia Flyers (20-16-3) @ Boston Bruins (25-8-5)

The Bruins went 2-0-1 on their 3 game road trip and return home to host the Philadelphia Flyers at TD Garden after beating the Canadiens last night in Montreal. The Flyers are currently in 5th place in the Metropolitan Division with a record of 20-16-3. Jeremy Swayman will be in net for Boston after Linus Ullmark played in Montreal last night while Carter Hart will get the start in net for Philadelphia

The Bruins opened the scoring just 0:32 into the game as they dumped the puck into the offensive zone and went to work down low where Coyle would play it back to Grzelcyk at the point and Brandon Carlo would put a slap shot on net that Taylor Hall tipped for the goal giving Boston a 1-0 lead. The score remained 1-0 into the final minute of the period with Philadelphia on the PP when Boston had the puck in the Flyers zone and Lazar made a bad pass back to Forbort that was intercepted by Claude Giroux who took off on a breakaway and made a nice recovery after losing the puck for a second when Swayman went for the poke check but Giroux was able to slide it under Swayman on the second chance to tie the game 1-1 with 0:39 left in the period. The 1st period came to an end with the score even at 1-1 and the Flyers held a 10-9 edge in shots. The Bruins got off to a sloppy start to the 2nd period as Smith and Marchand were called for tripping just 14 seconds apart putting the Flyers on a long 5 on 3 PP and they would cash in as Konecny was stuffed by Swayman when he took the puck hard to the net but he was able to collect the loos puck and slide a pass across the crease to Sean Couturier at the far post for the goal to put the Flyers up 2-1 just 0:51 into the 2nd period. Philadelphia controlled play for the majority of the 2nd period but Swayman made a number of clutch saves in net to keep it a 2-1 game. The Bruins started to pick up their play late in the period but could not get the puck past Hart and the period would come to an end with the Flyers leading 2-1 and the shots were 19-16 in favor of Philadelphia through 40 minutes. The Bruins would head to the 3rd period trailing 2-1 with 20 minutes left to try and stage a comeback. Boston got a great shift form the 3rd line of DeBrusk-Haula-Foligno in the middle stages of the period as they possessed the puck in the offensive zone for a long stretch leading to the Flyers tiring and scrambling around until Boston got the equalizer when Haula found Jake DeBrusk for a one timer that beat Hart to tie the score 2-2 with 12:04 remaining. The stage was set for what should be an exciting finish to this game as the clock ticked down under 10:00 to play with the score tied 2-2. The Bruins had momentum and were dominating play in the 3rd period but Taylor Hall was called for interference to put Philadelphia on the PP with 6:47 left to play. The Flyers went to work on the PP and had a good chance with just under 6:00 left but Swayman made his biggest stop of the night to deny Cam Atkinson who fired a shot from the high slot. Boston got some strong work from the PK unit and would return to even strength with 4:47 left. Carter Hart made a pair of big stops on Frederic and Blidh with just under 3:00 to play keeping it a 2-2 game. The Flyers had a chance with under 1:00 left but Swayman would make a glove save on Couturier and freeze the puck for a faceoff with 0:37 remaining. The Bruins would use their timeout to get the Marchand-Bergeron-Pastrnak on the ice with some rest and the Flyers would win the faceoff and get a shot on net that Swayman stopped and Boston would gain possession and head up ice with 0:25 to play. The Bruins got set up in the offensive zone and worked the puck around creating a chance for McAvoy who had his shot blocked on the way but McAvoy would make a great play to tip the puck away from Atkinson at the blue line and keep it in with 0:13 left. Patrice Bergeron would play the puck back to McAvoy who slid it across the blue line to Forbort for a shot with 0:09 remaining but Hart would make a nice pad save before denying Marchand on the rebound but the puck would bounce behind the net with 0:05 to play where Marchand would grab the loose puck and swing around the other side of the net snapping the puck past Hart for the game winning goal with 0:03 remaining to give the Bruins a dramatic 3-2 victory

NOTES
* The Bruins and Flyers were tied 2-2 in the final minute of the 3rd period and looked to be headed to OT before Brad Marchand scored the game winning goal with 0:03 remaining to give the Bruins a thrilling 3-2 win in dramatic fashion

* The Bruins improve to 27-8-5 while the Flyers fall to 20-17-3 on the season

* The Bruins goals were scored by Taylor Hall (14), Jake Debrusk (11) and Brad Marchand who scored his team leading 22nd goal of the season

* The Flyers goals were scored by Claude Giroux (12) and Sean Couturier (13)

* Jeremy Swayman and Carter Hart both played well in net as Swayman stopped 24 of 26 shots for Boston and Hart stopped 35 of 38 for Philadelphia

* The Bruins will remain at home for their next game as the Nashville Predators come to at TD Garden. The Predators are currently in 6th place in the Central Division with a record of 20-21-3
