From Reddit: EA intentionally removed “full presntation” this year

    https://www.reddit.com/r/EA_NHL/comm...nse_to_nhl_23/

For the people speculating it would be added after the trial. Confirmed by the EA community manager. It’s out by design this year and probably not coming back.

This combined with strategies being removed from franchise, I am out this year. Have fun boys

The year they market a "focus on presentation" and this is what we get...It's just ridiculous at this point. You seriously couldn't make this up if you tried.

They upgraded the crowds, the commentary, the on ice graphics… I’ve never been more immersed in an NHL game in my life…

BUT, they remove a feature that was already there ??? A thing that would solidify the overall package ??

EA NHL department, I'm LOST 😣 WTH !

Their presentation was terrible last year. Hopefully this means they are revamping the whole thing for NHL 24. Hoping...

Gotta hand it to EA, they find the most tone deaf dev teams to make their games.

Yeah, and they removed the ability to change strategies in franchise mode. So your literally stuck with the same default strategy no matter who your coach is for an entire franchise.

This company I swear. Will probably say something like “if you want the ability to change strategies play HUT. We felt like changing strategies was to complicated so we simplified them for you by completely removing them, even though literally no one asked for it”.

The reasoning behind these types of decision are so beyond me I can’t even wrap my head around it

I think this is just furtherproof of how little they think of the single player/franchise player base now. I get condensed presentation in online play, but making it the default unchangeable part of the game when in previous years you could change it just feels like a middle finger. Glad I canceled my pre-order & I don't think I'm even get hit this for the 40% off sale on Black Friday.

You can say what you want about the “wording” of their advertisements. But they were purposefully deceitful and misleading. I don’t know if I will ever trust EA Vancouver again.

I’ve been disappointed by games before, but I have never seen a company try and bait and switch people like this in my life

It really is starting to feel like they want everybody to play HUT and ECHL and that's it. Be A Pro, a mode they know is one of if not the most popular offline mode because it is in every sports game doesn't get touched but the fact that you don't have the option of full presentation now, so you don't get the full intro, goalie comparisons or in game highlights of hits and saves is beyond a joke, especially in any of the offline modes.

Did EA learn nothing from the fiasco that was Battlefield 2042's launch?

I'm starting to think that merely "not buying" isn't sufficient. Unless EA has to experience not just slower revenue, but negative revenue, then apart from the rosters, what's going to change?

One of the other problems is that since 2K stopped doing hockey games, EA's NHL is the only game we have so when it's this or nothing, not only are we limited on choice but it means EA can do as little as they want because they have no competition to challenge them in any way.

I’ve always wonder with the EA NHL team what is their development cycle for a game. For other sports titles I’ve always heard 9 months typically. They have a team that works on next years game and then a team that supports the current game. I know the EA Vancouver studio is small compared to other major sports titles but with how little they’ve changed in NHL 23 it must really take hundreds of hours to develop Cross Play. Even that isn’t ready for launch. With this team it seems like they either only spend a few months on the new game or they maybe hire temporary workers (contractors) to come in and work on certain aspects of the game. I find it very hard to believe they spend 6-9 months, 6-8 hours a day, working on NHL 23. If I could ask them one question it would be how long did you actually spend on NHL 23, I know they wouldn’t answer that but that’s part of the issue.

Yep even more so this year when despite the fact we all know that every years "new" game is just a copy/paste job from the previous year but to do a copy/paste job again this year while removing things, like the presentation options and it being a choice they made willingly with no explanation as to why just makes it so much worse.

This blows. I like intros cause it gives me time to get ready for the game instead of game right at the spot. And I like a bit of realism. This ain’t cool by EA for sure. I was gonna buy it anyways but now I’m not too sure. That sucks!
