Question about attribute slider
When you put attribute slider to 10 does it make the players more realistic? I read somewhere that it also speeds game up.just wondering if it makes the game more realistic.

Re: Question about attribute slider
Weird cause in the past years I always put that attibute on 9 or 10, but in NHL22 and 23 I’ve gone with 5 and the game plays beautifully…
You can really tell the difference between players… I read somewhere that 5 is also the most realistic when simming games. Apparently if you go with 10, the stats are out of whack…
Understanding sliders on NHL series is a full time job, lol ! Or trying to at least 😉PernellKarl076 NHL25 Slider Set

I also heard 5 was most realistic, but I read on on thread a guy said he has his on 10 and he thought that was most realistic

Re: Question about attribute slider
Re: Question about attribute slider
Just saw this from Al_Tito13, he explains it way better than me 😉😀
That's why I prefer 5, cause I don’t wanna give any kind of boost to anything, for me the less "under the hood" stuff from EA the better… And focusing on sliders that matters the most… If you know, you know 😀Keeping default 5 gives the full range of attributes, meaning that players are playing to their true attribute. Attributes won't get warped at all and your range won't be crushed. At 10, it will make the high attributes get maxed out or close to it. For example, every 86+ attribute will play like a 95. It will also make the lower attributes worse. For example, 80- will play like a 75. We don't have the exact numbers, but it's approximations to help understanding more easily.
Like any other slider, it's own preference. Personally, I prefer keeping the full range of attributes by letting it at 5 and adjust gameplay the way I want it to play with other individual sliders, choosing what aspect I want to have a bigger or lower effect on gameplay. However, if you would like to see how it plays at 10, feel free to test it.PernellKarl076 NHL25 Slider Set

Re: Question about attribute slider
I'm really glad I read your post. I always cranked it up to 10, thinking that would produce the most realistic results, but I didn't take into consideration that it was boosting up the attributes. Thanks for the info!Just saw this from Al_Tito13, he explains it way better than me 😉😀

Re: Question about attribute slider
Thank you for this post!! I have been playing with my Attributes sliders set to at least 8 and sometimes higher. This explains why the good players were super good and the lower rated players sometimes don't make much of a impact.Just saw this from Al_Tito13, he explains it way better than me 😉😀

5 is the best setting so the players can all play true to their abilities without any boosting or deductions.
This definitely changes how the players react and interact with each other.
Definite game changer.Comment

Re: Question about attribute slider
All this is doing is affecting the amount of good, average, and “bad” players there are. At 5/10 you get a good mix (assuming you use a custom roster) at 10/10 you see the people who are good at something become elite and the people who aren’t elite becoming actually bad.
I used to be a 10/10 diehard when I used vanilla rosters, but with my custom league it’s really good at 5/10 where I actually made a meaningful roster scale. I’m way too far down the rabbit hole to change something as fundamental as that slider, but I’d guess 7/10 would be truly the best balance between the two.
I find 10/10 to be too absoluteJoin the EVHL!

Re: Question about attribute slider
9/10
Sim engine scoring low
Draft class quality low
Prospect quality low
Line shot frequency low
For me the perfect one in NHL 22.
Top Players scoring well but not overloaded as well as lower Player score less
Goalie getting stronger after a while with lower GAA average and lower save % but its good like this cause its no more so easy to score against them. Saw an Vasilevskiy growing up to 96Comment

Re: Question about attribute slider
Re: Question about attribute slider
I would think neutral or “stock” basically has to be the most realistic simply because any extreme setting like a 10 that exasperates attributes would also positively exasperate lower attributes. I doubt the game is intelligent enough to know to add a +5 or so to a high attribute yet minus 5 to guys with poor attributes. 10 probably just adds a set number to everyone across the board which would be why the game might seem faster.Yankees, Manchester United, Chicago Bears, New York RangersComment

Re: Question about attribute slider
Re: Question about attribute slider
It would be nice for EA to actually explain this slider! I would think 10/10 would use the attributes entirely and 1/10 would treat all players as completely equal (disregard all player ratings). So, logically, for those of us who just do offline franchise, 10/10 should be the best setting, to make the ratings actually matter. But, that said, I have no idea whether it works that way or not.Comment

Re: Question about attribute slider
Re: Question about attribute slider
IMO, there shouldn't even be an attribute slider. There shouldn't be any sliders that affect player attributes. If you want true separation, it has to be in the player attributes. Have a player with a 99 speed? He should skate like a 99 speed. Pass accuracy at 90? Should pass like a 90...but if you put pass accuracy slider low, it will affect this. thereby negating the player rating.
Back in the "old" days, hockey games were player attribute based (Superstar Ice Hockey on Apple). You player played according to the ratings. Other games did the same thing. But for some reason, we now have sliders that do the same as player ratings. They wash each other out and each year we have the same conversation about what the sliders affect.
For the AE, I've always kept it at 5 because I feel anything above is the EA "boost".Comment
