Thankfully I own a disc copy. I play version 1.00 with no patches or tuners. It is far superior in terms of offline gameplay. CPU opponent defensive AI is much better. The patches have degraded this game.
They idiotically patched out the RT dump puck mechanic which added variety to the dump mechanic. It was really a good addition they just eliminated.

I filled my hard drive so my game won't update but does the game automatically install tuners? I don't have "latest" set in the sliders menu but today in the 2 games I played there was 1 total penalty. I'm 30 games into a franchise and before today I had at least 5 or 6 penalties a game.
Also that tuner option in settings only shows as either "latest" or it's just blank. I left it on blank as I don't want latest but it seems like I should have options like 1.00 or 1.01 or stuff like that but I literally have "latest" or blank.

I hope the frequency of penalties doesn't impact the total penalties I was seeing. Wasn't seeing anything unrealistic and if anything, saw them on the lower end. They mention it being higher for competitive play, which I don't play so hopefully yet again not catering to that crowd versus us offline players. In past versions always frustrated in not getting reasonable penalties so I hope this does not take things backwards. Wonder why they decide just to globally change that versus maybe just adjusting the impact of the sliders so that everyone can play how they want.

Whatever they did to the goalies, they need to fix it back. I find way too many shots from the point or odd angles going in. Every now and then is fine, but I thought it was fine before (outside of a few too much flopping). Rest of the gameplay changes are definitely better since it doesn’t overpower the exhaust system too much anymore.

I recently read the option to revert to previous tuners was removed back in NHL 2022. You can reinstall the game and not update any of the latest tuners. But the drawback is the other bugs from the previous tuners are present. The only solution is to adjust the sliders with each tuner. I feel the latest tuner makes this game feel like previous arcade pinball versions. Especially with the offensive pressure. Chel is annoying now. Best sim game was old 2K Hockey.
Steelers, Penguins, Penn State, Pirates, Red Sox, Manchester United.

Completely off topic, but I guess it depends on what system you are playing on, but I installed a WD Black 2TB drive in my PS5 last year, and also run a WD Black External hard drive thru the USB, have like 175 games installed and still have massive storage space... Very easy to install...
If you keep bowing down and praising the developers, (NHL series) nothing they give us the consumer will ever be a "finished" product. Take a stand, it is your money!!!.
