Thumbs down NHL 15 on PS4/XB1 stick collision detection

Im sorry to say it and honestly I didnt believe its even possible, but the nextgen hockey from EA sports has the WORST stick on stick/ stick on legs collision detection, probably in whole history of series.

Yes, even lastgen hockey (NHL 13) wasnt this bad in recognazing solid objects.
The play around the boards with puck is just pain to watch.

With new hardware I was expecting this to be much better, not the other way.
It is frustaring as hell.
Too bad.

Im not sure if its patchable, probably not.

I agree with you, if we forget about the lack of options, this has to be one of the worst aspects of the game. Except for pass interceptions, the defensive side is simply not strong enough, giving an unbalanced gameplay. You can be in a good position with a defender, closing the gap, just to see the opposing players deking you with his stick going through your own stick and your legs! I saw this many times so far and it's really irritating. With the very high puck control and poke checks that are not effective enough, this is not good.

And it would be possible to implement stick collisions. EA tried it in the past, but found it was 'not fun'. Even if I would like to have the option to activate it, I'm not even asking for full stick collisions, simply a minimum, because NHL 15 on next gen is worse than last year's game in that regard.

Not only is the puck/stick collision bad, there are still no loose pucks.

This series needs a whole team of NASA scientists to get back on track. Its been dumbed down way too much.

They had a dev version on the old gen where stick collision and everything was in. They took it out because it wasn't fun.

If you think that's bad, watch this:

NHL 15 Gameplay (Xbox One): Canadiens vs Penguins…:

http://youtu.be/6tVh_SYdfwk

At 5:18, as the Canadiens score their second, the ref skates to the net THROUGH Paranteau the goal-scorer. Then you see it in two replays!!

Who programmed this, a teenage boy in his bedroom?

This happens in just about every video game in some way or another.

I understand your perspective, and as a programmer myself(not a game programmer) it's sometimes difficult to hear people talk about things like "netcode", but it is infuriating to watch sticks go through legs to finish a shot or a deke ... I think if it were closer to the way it was in real life, it would force people to make better positional and passing plays, as well as think before just shooting.
