Only care about online VS--should I get the game

Like virtually everyone here, I have been a loyal EA NHL customer for years. Unlike any year I can remember, people are livid at this year's version, mainly due to the lack of game modes. The thing is, I could care less about EASHL, connected GM, or any other modes. I just play the game for the online versus mode.

So the question for those who have already played is, should I get this year's game? Ignoring the lack of game modes, is the game fun? Have there been improvements?

(In case it matters, I have a PS4.)

I was wondering the same thing. Far too boring to play more than 1 or 2 games against the CPU and I can't stand only controlling one player on the ice so since the 2k series ended I've almost exclusively played online versus. I saw the bad review but they seem to be mainly over lack of other modes so I thought it might still be a good buy for me.

Because I don't really care to play the other modes. I like playing against people, not the computer. And I just don't have the time to invest the time the other modes require.

I pay $60 for one game mode in almost all my sports games....madden offline cfm only, the show offline franchise only, FIFA gm mode only....that's a stupid response really.....anyways to the OP if you only play online VS I say yes, if you don't mind playing with default sliders....this game plays great IMO but that has to do with only playing Be A GM on true broadcast with slider adjustments a must....if that's all you will play who cares, but my Opinion is yes, everything omitted this year has nothing to do with your favorite mode :-)

because he likes that game mode??...who are you to question anyone on how they choose to spend their money or how they choose to play this or any other game?

i have seen PLENTY of people crying on this site as well as the EA site over EASHL being removed as that is the ONLY mode they play.

You just basically summed up my approach to the game. Strictly online vs, and 0 interest in playing the cpu. Online vs is fun, i recommend purchasing NHL15

Nobody knows long term, but I prefer online vs for almost all of my NHL gaming time. So far I'm enjoying it very much.

It's the mode thats been gutted the least. But I believe someone said you can no longer play with a guest if that means anything.

You can no longer play with a guest in online versus. Other than that, it has all the same features from NHL 14.

The gameplay is quite a bit different, though. The poke check barely does anything now, so the games tend to be very high scoring and full of hitting.

This is currently the only game I own and online vs is the only mode I play. I bought a PS4 just for this game and couldn't be happier. The new gameply is the best so far.
