Why didn't ea just skip this year.

I do love some of the gameplay, but when you score in overtime and the screen blanks out. Plus so many other gameplay issues like 5 min penalty and game misconduct for a shoulder to shoulder hits .I really think ea should let anyone who bought this years game can trade it towards next years game for a good trade value to save some face. Because we know next year will be the real next gen game. I do love to see 2k series company hanging around....

To answer your question, they are in business to make money and they already missed a year of income form the new consoles, they weren't about to lose another.

The reason question is whey didn't they start working on the game two years ago, instead of just a year ago.

Re: Why didn't ea just skip this year.

Why? Because.....

That really is why. For example, lets say you're a business who was offered 2 scenarios and you have to choose 1, which would you choose.

Scenario A:
2014=100k copies sold(people just buying NHL14 a year late)
2015=1.5M copies sold(people buying NHL16)

Scenario B:
2014=900k copies sold(buying NHL 15)
2015=900k copies sold(buying NHL 16)

Answer is obvious, you'd take scenario B. Fans would obviously prefer scenario A because of what it means for NHL16, but scenario B is what all companies would choose because you obviously want to make money, and even if it's a tiny bit more, you'd still take that option.
